We had a lovely stay, the owners of the farm were very welcoming. The cottage is close to amazing coastal walks, the market town of bridport, beautiful countryside and a selection of nice places to eat.
This is the place if you want a warm out of the way place with all the comforts of home together with all the comforts of being away from it all. Even your mobile phone won't keep you awake.
We stayed at Barn Cottage with our 2 year old and Jack Russell dog - had a lovely week, no phone reception suited us down to the ground - we actually got to forget about everything for a week and concentrate on proper family time.
We loved the walks out the back door across the fields, feeding the sheep, log fires, comfy beds and the cosy living room. The owners were lovely people. Hope to visit again one day.
Pecorama was a big hit with my son who hasn't stopped talking about the choo choo trains, so we can definitely recommend that.

On the beach wasn't really on our list of needed items when we looked from somewhere to stay. However the location of Barn Cottage was a very happy accident, set beautifully on a farm in a pretty much unspoilt area of Dorset made the stay feel like a true get away. There are plenty of local good walks and some good pubs to eat at nearby (although the hill between Poorton and Powerstock makes it a sensibly heavy walk to get there, but it's definitely walkable). As you're on the farm already there is pretty much some private wandering available up to the nearby fields, and we even found a few fossils in the stream after some tips from the owners.
The cottage itself is a good, heavily built old stone barn, converted wonderfully, with a well kitted kitchen and a more than usable shower (and bath), which is a joy in such a property (we love a good shower and this one was great for a single storey property on a spring water system). The weather was good to us so the large wood burner already set with a fire laid for us wasn't really needed, but made a great feature in the room despite that. The decor is of an older style, which suited the cottage well and wasn't intrusive. The secluded nature of the property meaning no mobile signal was made up for well by the good wifi coverage. The smaller bedroom with the two single beds would be fine for a couple of children and just about managed to fit our standard travel cot without having to try too hard.
The reception couldn't have been friendlier, and when there was a problem it was sorted with no difficulty or hassle, which is a major plus factor for any holiday let. The owners were onsite and approachable, but not in any way intrusive.
We have just returned from a lovely relaxing week in an idyllic cottage tucked away in the countryside. The cottage itself was cosy and welcoming, especially the log burning stove and the views from the windows were very pretty. Our favourite places to visit were Lyme Regis,[ lovely cream teas],
Weymouth, with its gorgeous beach and West Bay with its dramatic cliffs. Added to this the warm welcome we received from the owners made it very hard to leave.
