We booked Crepe Farmhouse last summer as the venue for a family party to celebrate 50 years of marriage in December 2017.
We were so pleased that we chose wisely as the whole family, age range 7 to 78, just loved the venue and the idyllic village that is Symondsbury.
We made full use of the heated indoor pool and outdoor hot tub and the accommodation was just perfect for a party of 13.
We were particularly impressed with the quality bedding which was truly outstanding. It was lovely to enjoy cosy log fires and the whole farmhouse was equipped with everything one would want - it was home from home.
In addition to the farmhouse itself we cannot commend too highly the Cafe in the village which is run by Symondsbury Estate and is an absolute gem. Fantastic staff and delicious food.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Crepe Farmhouse to our family and friends and would certainly visit again.
We booked the house for a family reunion -15 people from age 14 to 80. The house itself is superbly equipped for large scale catering and entertainment for all generations. The village is picture perfect- welcoming pub and the manor farm cafe serves an excellent breakfast. Walking from the farmhouse was great and the teenagers enjoyed the mountain bike trail. Beaches are many and varied- lots of fossils found and some challenging swimming at times. Broadchurch groupies enjoyed quality fish and chips at West Bay. A really fantastic week.
The farmhouse had everything we needed and more. The kids loved the garden and the pool, and the adults made use of the bike trails and the variety of beaches close by. Grandparents and the spaniel appreciated the many lovely walks nearby. This was the perfect venue for our large family group coming together for Easter.
The location of this house is excellent, down a private drive in beautiful countryside, yet only a 10 minute walk from the lovely village of Symondsbury with a pub and Manor Yard with it's excellent coffee shop and only a 10 minute drive from the nearest beach. Bridport itself is also within walking distance or a 5 minute drive will get you to the nearest large supermarket. Lovely walks in the area and although we didn't go to Colmers Hill most of our party walked up Allington Hill for lovely views back towards Crepe Farmhouse.
The house is ideal for large groups of friends/family and when the full complement of our extended family were there, which was 14 adults and 2 children, everyone was able to find a place to themselves and at no time did we feel 'crowded'. We made full use of the swimming pool and hot tub. The gardens were extensive and, being blessed with a week of sunshine, we had many games of football and cricket in them. As others have mentioned there are lots of different areas for sitting out in the garden, all of which were used at some point or other during the week.
Inside the house the living areas seemed much more spacious than the photos on the website. The lounge at the front of the house was designated a 'quiet' room whilst we were there but this still left plenty of other areas for the more boisterous family games to take place!
The kitchen was beautifully equipped with plenty of mugs, crockery and cutlery to be able to deal with all meals. Huge casserole dishes, plenty of oblong dishes for making lasagne, mac cheese etc, 4 cafetieres for those wanting fresh coffee, 2 large teapots, 2 kettles, food mixer and the list goes on. A lovely welcome pack including cereals (lovely muesli), eggs milk, butter and local fresh bread. The large number of glasses in the 'bar' room are also thoughtfully accompanied by plenty of good quality plastic glasses for taking in to the games/pool room.
All the bedrooms are lovely and even the 'smallest' bedroom was bigger than many self catering accommodation we have stayed in previously. The ground floor en-suite room was a delight for my 80 year old mother who did not have to negotiate stairs for the week. The excellent thing about the bedrooms at Crepe Farmhouse is that you have the choice of how they are made up, either as twins/king, something you don't get with many holiday rentals. Thanks to Ruth, the housekeeper, for dealing with my last minute changes to the bedroom arrangements!!
Everyone in our party agreed that this would be a place we would love to visit again.
Booked this for a friends long weekend away and Crepe Farmhouse was perfect for what we were looking for. The games room / pool house was brilliant and the hot tub was on and ready when we arrived. The cinema room was a great place for everyone to hang out in and had full Sky package. There was a big garden too and seats outside which we would have used more had the weather been nicer.
The beds were really comfortable, there were plenty of bathrooms / toilets / showers / towels. After a slightly late request, Ruth the house keeper made sure there were enough king and single beds made up which was much appreciated. The dining room / snug with the fireplace was spacious, plenty of space to be able to sit round the table to all have breakfast/dinner and then get a fire going afterwards. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of crockery, pots, pans, cutlery and a big fridge freezer (and there was a 2nd fridge and freezer where all the glasses were kept), range cooker with 3 ovens and also there were 2 dishwashers which made life much easier when cleaning up.
The location of the house is set in the countryside with great views of the hills and also very secluded. But Bridport wasn't far away to walk to where there are supermarkets and nice local pubs. Some of our group also went to the farm shop nearby which had some lovely food. If you don't want to leave the house, we had no problems getting a Sainsbury order and a local Thai takeway being delivered.
Overall a very comfortable relaxing stay and I would definitely come back here again.
