“A brilliant carefree holiday on the Symondsbury Estate”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our family - 6 adults and 4 children stayed at the Bilshay Farmhouse on the Symondsbury Estate about a mile or so from Bridport, Dorset . The first thing to say is that everyone at Symondsbury was very helpful from the time of booking the holiday through to the day we left for home.

The farmhouse is very comfortable and spacious and the housekeeper had contacted us to ensure the bedrooms were arranged to match our family needs - a small thing but so brilliant. The farmhouse, set in its own grounds, is so peaceful with stunning views of the Dorset countryside. It is also equipped with a gas barbeque, a hot tub and a games room in the stable block. As much as we enjoyed traveling around Dorset everyone was happy to return to Bilshay to enjoy the amenities.

Bridport is a bustling town and well worth visiting for shops, its market and restaurants. The closest resort is West Bay of Broadchurch fame but the whole of the Jurassic Coast is a joy to visit while Weymouth is a must if you have children. Weymouth has an excellent and cheap park and ride system.

It has been some 30 years since we visited Dorset last but this trip was so enjoyable we will be going back. If you want to visit Dorset with friends or family (up to 10/11) I would highly recommend the Bilshay Farmhouse on the Symonndsbury Estate.

It is just wonderful.

“Amazing property in an idyllic location”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Great property, very traditional with a modern twist.
The view is to die for and the service brilliant.
I booked this for a Hen weekend with 9 ladies and everyone was impressed. I just couldn't believe the location and to be able to sit in the hot tub and enjoy it was just perfect. When split between 9 of you the price is very reasonable. Enjoy!!!!!!!

“Beautiful Accomodation in and idyllic rural setting”
Reviewed 7 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

I stayed here with my husband and children together with our parents and a few other extended family from Christmas Eve until the 27th of December. The pictures on the webiste looked amazing andf reality did not disappoint. The equipment for cooking was just like home from home (if not better) of course this was vital to be able to cook Christmas dinner. It was so clean and the setting was lovely too, very rural yet very close proximity to the town centre of Bridport. Would definatley visit again infact would love it to be a second home to escape to.

“Perfect Place for a Family holiday”
Reviewed 27 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We enjoyed a wonderful week with our extended family, and assorted friends, in this beautiful old farm house with stunning views. We had everything we needed to enjoy a problem free week. The hot tub in the garden was great and even the weather was perfect.
Lots to do and see all around, especially if you are keen walkers. I am sure we will be back.

“We wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful spot”
Reviewed 13 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Bilshay farmhouse easily lived up to all our expectations. The location was perfect with wonderful views from the huge garden, Very well equipped with many extra details such as the large welcome hamper and luxury bathrobes. Well designed and styled, it suited all our ages from 3 months to 65 years. The owners were helpful with our specific needs (extra high chair; bed arrangements).
All Symondsbury properties in this area are quite pricey but well worth the extra for the attention to detail, overall size and provision of amenities. The coast, beautiful local villages and towns, cliff top and country walks are all close by, but the trampoline and hot tub in the lovely garden meant we didn't have to go anywhere!
We were sad to leave and would love to return.
