“Perfect cosy cottage for 2”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We loved our stay at Duck Street Cottage! Finding high quality holiday lets that accept pets isn't always easy and Duck Cottage is certainly high quality. Downstairs is cosy and well equipped whilst upstairs feels like a luxry hotel. The bathroom is great and the bedroom is large and luxurious. We would definitely stay again. A must is a wander to the Symondsbury Kitchen for breakfast where friendly staff will serve you a tasty breakfast before you embark on your Dorset day.

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Lovely cottage in a small village with a pub but no shop. The cottage was spotless, the kitchen well equipped. The outside area is very small and somewhat disappointing there is really no where to sit outside and eat, the weather wasn't that brilliant when we stayed but had it been very hot I would have been rather disgruntled as the photographs are very misleading. The housekeeper was very helpful and attentive. A car is essential if you stay here as it is too far to walk to Bridport but lots of lovely places to visit within easy reach by car. There is only on-street parking and the road is very narrow.

“spacious well postioned cottage- Duck Cottage”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A really Lovely cottage in this really quaint pretty part of Dorset. We ( my mum and my dog and i )spent a week in the cottage in perfect weather and found it to be wonderful. The cottage has everything you need home from home. The lounge was cosy and quaint with a small selection of games and books which was a nice touch. The kitchen well stocked and as others have mentioned you are provided with milk tea coffee butter bread and jam which is another nice touch. The bedroom was so quite and peaceful and the bed really was huge!! Modern clean bathroom with bath and walk in shower. Nice patio outside however size wise wasn't hug so if you wanted to spend some time in the cottage and garden its not the best ( sunloungers are in the rear out cupboard) but why would you with so many great beaches and places to go! 5 minutes from Eype beach ( car) and burton bradstock. 10 minutes to bridport. 20 minutes to lyme regis and 50 minutes to weymouth its a really greats spot. Not many little shops around but the café at the top is really pretty with a nice menu and lovely cakes and it serves wine!! Bonus!!
We locked ourselves out once and the team were really lovely and it was very simple to get back in. If you are walkers though or want to go out for the day and take your lunch with you, then take some Tupperware as we find this was the only thing the cottage lacked.
We also found that a dimmer or very small light inside the bathroom would have been good as the door is at the top of the stairs and as its so dark at night it can be a little disorientating making a little midnight trip ( the main light is too bright and shines under the bathroom door but there is also a little torch at the cottage we have could have used)we without doubt would definitely rent here again if we revisited Dorset and would be a perfect place to hold wedding guests. Im not sure how suitable it would be for an older couple due to the stairs ( they are a little steep to the bedroom) . You would also need a car ( or bike if you were a cyclist) to travel to any destinations the walk to the beach would be too much. However it was perfect for us and for single person/ couple.

“Duck Street Cottage - everything you could want and more.... just fantastic!”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Stayed in No.7 Duck Street Cottage over the Easter 2014 holiday. Myself, my fiancée and our Yorkie had a wonderful stay. Don't be fooled by rustic first appearances - when you enter the cottage it has modern luxury written all over it with all the comforts of home and more. The location is charming and the local people very friendly and welcoming, plus it's pet friendly, which is a big plus for us.

What struck us was the care and attention paid by the Estate staff to ensure there was fresh milk, bread, eggs, jam, tea and coffee waiting for us when we got there. Thoughtful touches like a fully stocked Inglenook fireplace complete with kindling, logs and firelighters so that we could light a roaring fire. It was fantastic.

The super comfy king-size bed complete with Egyptian cotton bedding made us think we were in a 5-star hotel and we slept like logs. The bathroom is excellent with lovely big bath and separate power-shower. It was warm, cosy and welcoming. In addition, it has a lovely TV and DVD player, plus wi-fi access.

The friendly and efficient Estate staff looked in on us to ensure everything was all right for us - nothing was too much trouble. Overall, it was a superb place to stay and I cannot recommend it highly enough to others. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to all at Symondsbury Estate for giving us a lovely Easter break.

“Idyllic Thatched Cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The pictures of the cottage did not do it justice. It is a cosy, peaceful, beautifully maintained cottage and the welcome pack on arrival is just lovely. Having read the guest book that is kept in the cottage, everybody has made the same comments. It is very well equipped and clean and cosy!
