We stayed for a week with our teenage children and this cottage was perfect. Very restful and quiet (as much as things ever are with teenagers!) but it was great that there was so much for everyone to do. The swimming pool was the most popular feature with the kids. We tried the night safari which was really special. Our guide was so knowledgeable and we all learned some really interesting stuff, seeing badgers, red deer, owls and loads more. My oldest son and I had a clay pigeon shooting lesson and the girls went collecting eggs with mum. We'll definitely return next year and will probably take the bigger cottage and bring the grandparents.

“Top quality accommodation in beautiful location”

We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Old Stables, and have had a fantastic time. We travelled with 2 young children, then our parents came down to spend a few days with us as well. Mornacott Farm is a stunning location - off the beaten track, although close enough to the main road to get to the coast, towns etc. The quality of the accommodation is superb - the cottage is well thought out, clean, comfortable and spacious - more than enough room for all 6 of us. The on site swimming pool/sauna is an aded bonus and makes what would have been a good break, outstanding. The walks around the Farm are varied and interesting, and there are a whole raft of other activities you can do such as use the sports field, go on a nighttime safari etc. The quality of the produce on the farm is fabulous and our kids also loved collecting the eggs from the hens! The fillet steak was to die for! All the staff clearly work hard and are polite, helpful and friendly. Perfect for all ages who either want to get out and about, or who want to chill out! We are looking to book again for next year!

Just what the doctor ordered. Calm and tranquillity in a great location off the beaten track yet close enough to the main A361 to allow you to visit everything that North Devon has to offer.

We’ve stayed in several holiday cottages before but this has to be amongst the best. The furnishings and equipment are all top quality and the owners are attentive but not intrusive. The cottage itself has been beautifully converted and having three bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms is a definite plus.

The Mornacott estate stretches to about 700 acres of lovely walks through woods and beside the river and the children loved the evening safari conducted by the gamekeeper for whom nothing was too much trouble.

We definitely plan to revisit next year (a great new swimming pool complex was underway when we visited and if it’s to the same quality as everything else at Mornacott it will be fantastic).

The barbecue packs and pre-cooked meals are to die for and all made with the owners’ own beef and lamb.
