“Excellent week away in dolphin cottage”
Reviewed 5 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Just returned from a week's holiday staying in dolphin cottage.a really quaint and cosy cottage that is always spotless on arrival. The kitchen refurb with washer and dishwasher is an added bonus. Visited all the pub's with the ferryboat and it's Beach garden a favourite and the shipwright in ringmore is now under excellent ownership with greatales and food that doesn't break the bank.

We're so glad that you had a good time, and that the new kitchen is all working well. It was only just finished in time! . It's good to hear that the Shipwright's has reopened in time for the summer. We'll look forward to welcoming you again. Cheerio, Helen.

“A great stay in Shaldon”
Reviewed 4 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Dolphin Cottage, particularly times at the Ness Café, sipping coffee while keeping an eye on the kids playing in the sand or crabbing, visits to the Yummy shop (ice cream is one of the best we ever had), walks to the Ness, the beaches, watching the tide, the jellyfish at low tide, taking the ferry across the river... The Dolphin Cottage is just perfect, small, easy to live in, enough things in the kitchen to cook if you want, without too much clutter. We also enjoyed reading a few of the books kept on the shelves. Our daughter forgot one of her library books in the cottage, but Helen B. sent it back to us in Switzerland in the most gracious way. Thanks again, Helen! We highly recommend the Dolphin Cottage.

I'm so glad you liked Shaldon. It really is a fantastic place for children, and plenty of interest for adults too. You have been a pleasure to deal with - please come back next time you come to England.

“Was ok, a few issues, but did the job”

The cottage is pleasant enough, the kitchen you could call rustic but is somewhat in need of a refurb as most of the drawers needed heaving to get open and half of it is a different design to the other half. Upstairs is very quaint & comfortable and what we have come to expect of cottages we have stayed in. The sofa in the living room has seen better days and seemed strangely at odds with the style of the rest of the cottage being a somewhat modern styling and a faded grey colour. The real pain though was parking, it took over an hour of driving around after we arrived to find a space and parked on the other side of town and we only found that space because some friendly locals helped us out - the owner provided some advice on this but we arrived on a Saturday afternoon on a sunny day so the advice wasn't really applicable as those spots were gone (and were for the whole weekend) so be prepared for a lot of touring about if you arrive in a busy period - our car was also hit whilst parked in the space we found as the roads are very narrow so rear wing now needs a respray at a cost of a couple of hundred pounds. So overall its ok, appreciate its in a great spot and close to the beach but but not one of the best we have stayed in

I was surprised to read your comments, after your email saying what a wonderful holiday you'd had and how good the cottage was.

I'm sorry I had to withhold your damage deposit. We very rarely do this, but we have had such a massive problem cleaning up after your accident with the medicine etc, that I felt it was justified. It certainly cost us considerably more than £50 and a lot of hard work to get the cottage ready for the next family.

“Excellent stay ”
Reviewed 1 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Stayed here with my partner and youngest son(18 months old) & had a great break, well worth the money & will return again, lots of places to eat and have a drink, a nice walk into teignmouth which has loads of activities for the kids, a great base to get around and very friendly atmosphere, Helen the owner gave us great advice about the place,it is very narrow so had to park around a 5 minute walk away but it's along the coast so no hardship but a slight incline on the return, we had the pushchair and could get about so not too bad, will definitely be returning
