My wife and I have just spent a week in the tranquillity of Malston Mill. What a place, so easy to relax and forget about the everyday issues. The landscaped gardens take your breath away, something all gardeners will enjoy. Excellent facilities and only 2 or 3 miles from Kingsbridge.
If you've never stayed here before, well, you're really missing something - fantastic place. The fishing isn't bad either!

Stayed: June 2018

This quite family run mill, is breathtaking, it has everything you would expect in a large complex, but with only six cottages, it’s relaxing, quite and picturesque and the games rooms and swimming pools are always quite. The fishing lake is full of large carp, which can test your skills.
For a great time, any time of the year book this venue.

Linda and Tony (owners and very warm hosts) have created such a wondrous place to hide from this hectic life and simply relax.

The setting is quite simply breathtakingly beautiful. Designed as a small hamlet of stone cottages around a central courtyard next to a burbling trout brook and picturesque wildlife/fishing lake.

In the extensive and well stocked gardens there are waterfalls and seating areas to sit and watch the diverse wildlife go about daily life far from the madding crowds.

We arrived to a welcoming bottle of champagne and smiling hosts. We found the accommodation to be very clean, well equipped and organised. Everything is ‘cottage’ in style so no minimalistic harsh modernism with walls of glass and chrome that is now becoming the norm. No this is the world of romantic four poster beds, real fires, cosy sofas and beautiful views from almost every window. The whole place is immaculately kept by Linda and Tony who beaver about doing thing all day every day (where do you get the energy?).

For the more energetic there is a tennis court, stunning indoor and outdoor pools, spa, skittles alley, giant chess board, billiard and snooker table. As these are open only to residents we found them to be virtually private to us with no one else using them at the same time….rather like being the lord and lady of the manor!

Unfortunately, my wife did become a partial widow during the week as I’m a keen angler and the lake is rather stunning. Whilst the large carp mainly poked fun at me by showing themselves in my peg only to then retreat again out of sight. I did find a good head of quality roach, rudd and brown trout (take plenty of maggots because you’ll travel far to find any down there). This is not an overstocked commercial lake and you will have to fish for them but the rewards are there. The fish are beautiful pristine and unmarked.

If like us your world is hectic and you need to step off the merry-go-round for a while this is a place for you. This is a beautiful tranquil and romantic place to ‘Stand and Stare’.

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

It’s just beautiful Tony and Linda….can we move in please?

Visited for a few nights as a get away from work....owner so nice......lovely bottle of prosecco waiting for us on arrival!!
Beautiful setting so peaceful best nights sleep we’ve had in a while.
Great facilities and indoor pool superb.
Would recommend sofa be replaced though in lakeside cottage but all in all a lovely break and owners have worked very hard to make this a special place well worth a visit.

Had the most relaxing time at Malston Mill farm, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cottages are comfortable, warm, equipped with all necessary kitchen amenities and utensils. We’ll be back.
