“Great place for a family gathering”

Lovely cottage and great communication from the owners beforehand. Nicely decorated and clean. Great garden with dog/child proof fences and gates. The annex is just a few feet from the house which was great for the "in-laws". The location is great, its a short walk (about 1.5 miles) to Instow along the Tarka trail. The local pub is a bit tired but does good beer and a nice carvery on Sundays. Overall a great place to stay and we had a lovely weekend.

Liked best: layout (with the separate annex) and cleanliness
Liked least: Front door opening onto the road (not a busy road but had to be careful with the dog!).

“Three night spring stay with a three generation family group”
Reviewed 6 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed at Rosemary Cottage with a three generation family group of eight ranging in ages from 10 months to 83 years. The cottage would be ideal for fully mobile adults and school age children as it has a lovely garden, very well equipped kitchen and good size bedrooms. The property is not so good for the less mobile as the main stairs are narrow and steep and have no handrail and there are also a couple of small steps on the landing to negotiate too. Also, the front door opens straight onto the country lane so you have to watch the younger children. There is no downstairs bathroom in the main cottage, The property does have a detached annex behind the garage in the garden but there was a notice saying this was only for parties of nine or more. The grandad in our party could have used the annex I suppose but, understandably, he wanted to be with the rest of the family. The WiFi quick and reliable throughout our stay. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay at Rosemary Cottage and communication with the owners was always excellent.

Thanks for your very positive review. As we explained when we spoke, our fire risk assessor suggested it would be of greater risk than not to place a handrail on the stairs, because it would narrow the exit in the event of fire unecessarilly. We would also like to confirm that there are categorically no notices up stating that the annexe is only available for parties of 9 or more. We don't charge extra for the annexe from any groups, no matter how small, so we are a little confused by your comment. All are very welcome to use it as overflow accomodation. We are glad you had a good time, and you are very welcome back.
Best wishes
Tony and Andrea.

“A great base for a large group”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I booked this as a place to stay with family in Devon and the accommodation worked really well for us. The owners kept us informed all the way through and sent us very helpful information about the house/location which included very detailed directions. The house was clean and comfortable and very cosy during quite a blustery Easter! We visited Westward Ho, Croyde and Saunton beaches during our stay and all were within an easy drive. We had small children and dogs and found it safer to use the back door rather than the front. We all had the most fabulous time and everyone was sad to leave.

“Christmas with friends”
Reviewed 1 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We rented the cottage for the Christmas period. There were 9 of us in total and we all thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. It was very well presented, clean and comfortable. The owners were fantastic and responded to any questions we had within the hour. We had fun walking into Instow along the estuary path and spent boxing day on the beach at westward Ho! Which is 10 mins away. We all had a fantastic time and were sorry to leave the cottage. We would all thoroughly recommend this cottage to friends.
