We popped in to the Pack of Cards on Sunday and we are so glad we did. I just wanted the veg (no meat or nut roast etc) and for once I didn't get ripped off and got charged a reasonable price. The food was so tasty and the choice of vegetables was great with unusual ones like beetroot and dauphinoise potatoes. My husband had turkey which melted in his mouth and my son had burger and chips which was fresh and not processed. The staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All in all a great lunch. We will be back.

Thank Carla D

After parking up overlooking the beach, we were going to have lunch at The Dolphin Inn but after going inside, we found it drab and unappealing. Instead, we walked a fair distance to the Pack of Cards, a unique looking building with a bit of history, and thank goodness we did because it was a decision we didn’t regret. We sat in the public bar with our retriever Poppy but could have eaten in the restaurant if we wanted to. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everywhere was clean. We went for the lunch time special menu which was two meals for £15, choosing one of our favourites -- ham, eggs and chips. Great ham, soft yolks, hot chips. Delicious!

We visited on Saturday afternoon to see about booking a meal for Saturday eve, we was staying in a caravan up the road, we had a drink and looked at the menu but our honest view was the pub was very dated and although the conservatory was very modern the pub area was quite grotty and needs a make over!
The menus looked tatty, dirty and nothing on the menu was particularly appealing!
So we decided against eating and going to another pub up the road which was lovely!
Also whilst we sat and had our drink the owner sat down to eat his pasta,
which the chef had brought out to him himself!
But the owner was complaining that the pasta dish was cold when he started to eat it!
This didn’t fill us with much hope!
We thought the prices were a bit high also! For example the cod & chips and the scampi & chips were more expensive here than in the sawmills up the road!
So this was just a honest opinion, I’m sure the food was ok here but maybe a make over and some new menus as it’s the start of the summer season now!
Other than that the pub did look good from outside and the garden was nice, if the sun was shining!!!

Stayed at Combe Martin for a week and visited this establishment 3 times.
They are extremely dog friendly and are very welcoming to visitors.
Warm and friendly staff make you feel like it’s your own local. The food was lovely and the portions generous, we were spoilt for choice as there was also a daily specials board!!!
The added bonus for dog lovers is that you are able to eat in the restaurant with your dogs, as they have a room especially for dog owners who want to eat in a restaurant rather than the bar area.
They are really attentive with the dogs and each time we visited they were given dog biscuits.
They do have rooms for people to stay in but we didn’t actually stay here.
A true find in Coombe Martin, will be back.
Derbyshire Girls ( not forgetting Wilma Basset Hound and Nigel Clumber Spaniel).

We have just got back from Devon, from a snowy weekend. On the off chance of securing a table on a Sunday evening for dinner we popped into the Pack to see if they could accommodate us. Having walked up from the other end of the village it was wonderful to be greeted by lovely staff and it was no trouble to secure a table for the carvery. The food itself was wonderful and very reasonably priced. We sat in the conservatory, which looked out over the garden, and although it was covered in snow, it looked like a wonderful place to visit when the sun was shining with a play area for children too.
