“Petit house in great location”
Reviewed 9 November 2016 for a stay in May 2016

It has to be said that this is quite a small house for 6 people and the bedrooms are squashed in to the top floor making any movement in the night apparent to all. On the other hand the location is stunning with an outside area right on the river bank and a great pub next door. You have to park a steep 10 minute walk from the house, but this is a lovely location if you like walking. It is in a pretty village with a decent enough shop, so overall a good place to be for a while.

Thank you for your review of Cliff Cottage. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed our special location in Dittisham.
For future guests, I would like to mention that there is also a car park in Dittisham that is not up the hill, it is located a short walk away further along the water front. A lovely 5 - 10 min walk away along a public footpath.

“Beautiful location”
Reviewed 12 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Not sure what standard of property the other 3 reviewers are used to but this cottage certainly didn't meet mine. and as for the comment from one about it being immaculately clean then I suggest a trip to Specsave wouldn't go amiss. This property is desperately in need of a refurbishment. I have thrown better furniture and curtains in the skip, the outdoor furniture in particular. It probably hasn't had anything done to it since the 1970's. Not all bad though, the view and location are second to none with views accross the estuary. Such a shame as this property could be such a delight. We will return to Dittisham but not to this cottage.

Our cottage is set in the most idyllic setting with fantastic uninterrupted views of the River Dart, we feel that Cliff Cottage offers extremely good value for such a prime location in South Devon.
The property is hundreds of years old and we have tried to retain the traditional character as much as possible. If you are looking for clean lines, and modern ikea style furniture then this is not the property for you. We have flag stone floors, stone walls, exposed beams, direct access to the river, incredible views and we love it.

“Life by the river”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Booked from Australia and good communication in the lead up to travelling. All the instructions to get there and to get keys worked. Driving to the property is difficult due to very narrow streets and best to drop off and pick up luggage at low tide as can turn the car on the beach rather than reverse up very steep hill (good test of driving skills!). Mostly walked 10 minutes up and down hill to where we parked car and would not work for those with limited mobility. Great location once you are there with fabulous views from the balcony over the river and just next door to great cafe and pub as well as easy access to ferry across the river. House had everything we needed and was well set up. I particularly appreciated provisions of basics such as salt, pepper, oil, washing up stuff etc as it is a pain to have to buy for a short stay. House was comfortable although small with3 bedrooms - able to sleep 6 -and 2 living areas, one with a small TV. Had a Rayburn (like an Aga) which is constantly on and meant house was always sometimes a bit hot but always warm. Kids liked catching crabs on the pier (equipment provided) and made extensive use of the Wifi (though complained it was a bit slow and couldn't access all their usual sites). All in all worked well for us and happy with stay.

“Charming riverside cottage”

Cliff cottage is an adorably quaint riverside cottage in charming Dittisham. It has the perfect view of the river Dart and outdoor seating to ensure you could enjoy it.

The cottage was immaculately cleaning upon arrival and we had kindly been left with a bag of ice in the freezer which was much appreciated!

It's a stone throw away from The Ferry Boat Inn which has great food and drink- just make sure you book if you want to eat!

The previous reviewer mentioned the door sticking, the locks had indeed been changed, but I don't think that was what was causing the issue... it does stick when unlocking, but once you've gotten the knack of it, making sure it was firmly pulled to and then handle firmly pulled up, we had no problems.

Wifi was abit intermittent, think there may have been a family block on it - facebook and reddit wouldn't load, but bbc news and google would!

We stayed for a long weekend and put the kitchen to good use for a fry up and full roast dinner, so there's plenty of utensils etc

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend to everyone.

“Charming cottage in outstanding positon over Dart river”

No fault (bar one) can be found in this charming property, well maintained and equipped. Charming and comfortable. Dittisham is a lovely village, perched on a hillside over the Dart within 20 minutes of Dartmouth and the sea to one side and the same distance to Totnes, a lovely market town. The "bar One" fault concerned the front door which sticks and requires some work. The owner is informed and promises to remedy this. A delightful place, well recommended.
