Beautiful cottage, gorgeous location and Stephen and Fiona were the perfect hosts - thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable. We will be back!
We've just come back from a great week staying at Yonder Shippon. The accommodation provides a cozy retreat with everything we needed for our stay. We wanted a quiet location with easy access to the moor for walks with our dog and this was perfect. We were made very welcome by Stephen and Fiona and felt at ease right away. The village of Widdecombe in the Moor is a 2.5 mile walk away and the Rugglestone Inn is a nice traditional pub. A 10 mile round walk over the moor will take in a halfway stop at the Old Warren Inn which I'd also recommend. All in all a great break in a lovely location.
We wanted to have a weeks R+R with our dogs and found an ideal cottage with a one-room lounge/kitchen and an upstairs bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
Stephen and Fiona were delightful hosts and I'm sure we would have had more chats had we been luckier with the weather and spent more time in the courtyard.
We and the dogs were made to feel welcome from day 1 and fortunately our dogs were no problem to the farm animals so were allowed into the courtyard with little supervision.
I measured the little village of Widecombe on the Moor at 1.7 miles away but due to the weather we never actually walked it. Everyone seems to recommend the Rugglestone Inn for food and drink but we found that the Old Inn was more suitable for us. We found the service really friendly and they were very accommodating with our food requirements (No carbs).
As I say, we were unlucky with the weather but we found ourselves very lucky to find this cottage and would recommend it highly for any couple looking to get away from it all.
Charming, well-appointed and laid out cottage. Very comfortable for two people. Great large bed and good shower. Cottage has wifi but no TV (which we didn't miss). If you are driving a large car, you should access the cottage from the north (Widecombe) as the road to it from the south is VERY narrow and awkward.
Stephen very friendly and welcoming.
