“This was one of the best short breaks we have had in the UK”
Reviewed 26 February 2018 for a stay in February 2018

Esme's Cottage was clean and beautifully presented. All the furnishings and equipment were of excellent quality and the place was spotlessly clean. Everything had been well thought out and it really was a home from home. The owners are to be congratulated. The cottage is conveniently near the local shops and supermarkets and has two or three nice Pubs, particularly the Trehill where we had a couple of meals which were excellent, as was the service. Ivybridge itself is very well located for visiting other places in the South Hams district which we did a lot of, considering we were only there for a week! We particularly enjoyed Salcombe and also Newton Ferrers where we walked across the causeway to Noss Mayo and had a lovely meal at the Ship Inn which we would very much recommend. The countryside and coastline in this area of Devon are very beautiful, We can't wait to go back and are planning another visit later in the year.

“Lovely Cottage”
Reviewed 27 March 2017 for a stay in June 2016

Stayed here for a week in June 2016. This cottage is good value for money and felt very homely. We had everything we needed and plenty of storage space. The road is quiet and opposite a peaceful churchyard.
Ivybridge is an ideal location if you're visiting a mixture of areas such as Dartmoor and North Cornwall, it also has a lovely river walk.

Hi Laura, Thanks for the review. As I recall, you booked direct with us, which is great! Just wondering what we could have done to earn that 5 star review that we try to maintain. Thanks, Russell

“Convenient but a few minor niggles”
Reviewed 10 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We booked the cottage for a 5-day stay over Christmas as my son lives in Ivybridge. The booking process was fine and communication with the owners was efficient. The house was clean and tidy on arrival with decent-size bedrooms. One double (5' bed), one twin and a single. The only problem I have is the lack of drawer space. The double bedroom has one drawer at the bottom of the wardrobe and in another area a marble washstand, which may be "quaint" but is not practical and could easily be replaced by a useful set of drawers. The twin bedroom has shelves in the wardrobe and the single bedroom has open wire shelves which could easily be replaced by a slim set of drawers.
The bathroom (1) has a bath and shower with a fixed head and good water pressure.
The kitchen/diner is a reasonable size but the oven markings have all worn off so you have to experiment to find grill, oven etc. There is a dishwasher and washing machine but we did not use either.
The central heating controller did not have instructions to programme - only temperature UP/DOWN so for a winter rental is probably not efficient.
Parking outside the property is resident's permit so you have to remove your car during the day.
If you want to be in Ivybridge this is a good option and certainly most suitable for us.

Hello Ian,
I'm glad you found the cottage suitable. We do stress during booking, that if you have any problems, you should contact us. We are able to resolve most issues very quickly. Sorry about the lack of drawer space. You are the first guest in 10 years to have had a problem with drawer space. Given that, thank you for your practical idea for a useful set of drawers, but we'll probably stick with the quaint washstand for now. Many previous guests have commented favourably on the decor and furnishings, but we do keep these things under continuous review. Sorry about the oven markings. They have worn off as a result of cleaning, and that issue has now been resolved. The instruction book for the oven is in the kitchen. With a quick call to me, I could have pointed you to it to save you any confusion. Ditto the heating timer. It is a modern system which is set to keep the cottage warm continuously throughout the day, but can be over-ridden simply by pressing a button. With one quick telephone call, I could easily have walked you through that procedure, or pointed you to the full booklet of instructions. Parking: we are close to the town centre, so the Local Authority requires that spaces are made available for shoppers during the day. You can park outside the cottage over-night(from 4pm till 10am), and for 2 hour slots during other hours. As I am sure you discovered, there is also all-day, unrestricted, non-permit parking within 80m of the cottage, and a municipal carpark just across the bridge .

Thank you once again for your review.

Russell
