Very friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate us. There was a themed evening for Chinese New Year but as we didn't want this they found us a table and we were able to choose off the main menu. The Chicken Kiev with curry sauce filling and sweet potato sag aloo was delicious. We stayed in a twin room 315 which had recently been refurbished to a very high standard and had beautiful views over the moors. Whilst we didn't eat the Sunday Carvery it looked very good and the restaurant was packed mainly with locals.Brilliant location for exploring the moors and not too far from the main town Newtown Abbott

One of the friendliest places I have ever stayed on business, the receptionist Lauren I think was her name was extremely helpful and a credit to the Dartmoor lodge. 4 stars down to the limited menu but they did provide for vegetarians also and the food was such a high quality. Highly recommended. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Stopped here when returning home from a short break for a late afternoon carvery - which was excellent. The lady behind the bar was exceptional and made us feel really welcome. She served our drinks then showed us to a table before bringing a waitress to us to take our order. Cannot think of any time in the past where we have had such attentive service even in restaurants charging far higher prices.

We were very impressed by the quality and the selection avalible at the Dartmoor Lodge's Carvery. The chef serving the beautifully cooked meats was friendly and eager to please diners. The restaurant is warm and comfortable and the serving staff helpful. We look forward to a return visit very soon!

My two friends stayed from Saturday 30th- Sunday 31st of January. Really nice rooms one on the ground floor as disabled and the other upstairs. I stayed for coffee Saturday, then returned with my son on Sunday. The carvery was much better than I was led to believe, four, yes four meats to choose from then lovely cooked veg, huge yorkshires, and the gravy was to die for. My son was hungry so had a large amount of food, mine was smaller. Staff checked everything was okay before leaving us to enjoy our food. Will be back next week.
