We had expected something a bit more downtown and in a better part of Chattanooga. To be fair, the townhouse was pretty nice inside. It was very clean and had good furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped and was user friendly but had one major draw back. It is very small so you have to navigate your way through the space, which brings me to the bathroom.
The bathroom, while spacious, is situated between the two bedrooms, each having their own door with an additional door located in the small hallway. We had a fun time of playing "knock-knock, whose in the bathroom"! Not a big deal but to insure your privacy you must lock three doors and then remember to unlock them when you exit.
Now, getting back to the location. Let's just say this property is on the outskirts of the city. I have been visiting Chattanooga for more than forty years and know the city fairly well. It is safe to say that not many years back I would not travel to this part of town. It is out MLK, Jr very near the National Cemetery, where the bridge crosses the old railroad district. Most of the buildings in this area are now at or over a hundred years old, as is this property. There is really nothing at all scenic in this area. So, if you decide to sit outside on the front veranda, you will be looking across the old rail yard area and the bridge that crosses over this wide expanse. Not very noteworthy!
To conclude, this is a nice place to spend the night but I would say not advisable to walk the streets at night. Not to seem over critical, but you would not want to walk into the city from this property. The building is made up of four units, two above the two below. I would like to say that it was nice and quiet but this is not the case. Besides being located at a busy cross street, which produces a lot of traffic noise, there is a fire station or some other emergency building nearby and wailing sirens kept waking us all through the nights we stayed at this property.
As I stated above, the unit was nice and clean. However, the area is need of revitalization, it is noisy, and located pretty far from the downtown district and river front. As always, I hope my review will help you with your search and I hope the owner understands I am not trying to be over critical. The final choice is always up to the individual!
