My parents originated from the Isle of Lewis. I hadn't been back for around 10 years. We based our trip just outside Stornoway at Holm near where the Iolaire disaster happened many decades ago. I returned to bostah beach where my father is buried in the cemetery close by. I had visited a number of beaches including those in Harris and uig. Hidden away at the end of the peninsular you find this beautiful bay. The white sands and turquoise water make it a photographers paradise. The bay looks across at sea stacks and evokes a real sense of the past. In the shallow waters you will find a sea bell which is not only functional but a true piece of sculpture. It is a place for contemplation and peace. Sit back and relax and let the cares of the wold drift away with the outgoing tide.
