We were in the area after a visit to the zoo and thought we’d take a quick peek. It was cool to see how massive the ship would of been, and to learn more and see the artifacts. It’s a small humble exhibit so don’t expect to spend tons of time and little children get bored once you step away from the big stuff outside, but it’s still good to come and remind yourself of the things that make our country possible.

Stopped at the memorial for about 30 minutes. That was plenty of time to take a passing look at everything. Very well laid out, and a super nice docent available. Not super interesting for young kids. This is not an actual battleship, it's a site that has been outlined in the shape of the ship with a small museum inside.

Interesting little museum. We had a couple hours to kill so stopped at this Museum. It had several side stories that brought a personal side to it. The movie had a lot of information in it. The outside being an outline of the ship with guns, propeller and anchor was cool

So, my kids who have explored the Battleship Texas were a little disappointed that there wasn't a "real" battleship to see. However, the museum is well done and the lady who was working was very nice and informative. She gave great information and history lessons! I wouldn't drive out of the way to visit, but it is a great stop if you're already in the area.

We arrived at about 10 minutes before the site was scheduled to close. The staff person on duty urged us to come in, stayed late and answered all of our questions about the ship. Interesting exhibits in the building about the USS South Dakota's accomplishments and the hard work that her crew did.
