We were not familiar with the Badlands. It was highly recommended to us. So glad we took advantage of the spot while in the area. Took so many photos. Each turn in the roadway bought another breathtaking view. It is a must to see!

Breathtaking place - make sure to take enough time to take a hike here and there and allow for a lot of time to stop and take pictures and enjoy the view. half a day at least. We came from Rapid City and entered from the East at the town of Scenic taking Sugar Creek Road which leads to the Rim Road and then to famous SD240, followed SD240 all the way back ot the I-90 to return to Rapid City, think that's the best route to take to see the most without going back and forth much.

This is not your normal rolling hills, farm country, forrests or mountains. Wind-sculpted hills, ravines and prarie with wild roaming sheep, buffalo and other wild game are easy to see. Its a couple hour drive thru with ample opportunities to get out and explore. Grandkids live to run in ravines and hills. limites acess for wheelchairs although viewing the vistas from outlooks provides wonderful views.

We drove through from Wall down to the Ben R visitor center. Stopped a few times to take pictures. Hiked the Window and Door trail. Easy. Lots of different colors in the rocks.
