“The perfect location for a family to relax catch up in a beautiful environment with breath-taking views.”

Last weekend we as a family of 12 living in different states gathered together at Sahali for a family celebration and Sahali did not disappoint us. We cannot recommend it highly enough for people who want time out and spend quality time together.

The accommodation is extremely comfortable with plenty of space for 12 people. Most bedrooms are separated in different wings with two bedrooms and a sitting room in one area that could be closed for the family with children.

Most of our time was spent either lounging around the water edge pool, which is beautiful and clean, overlooking the amazing Kangaroo Valley or in the kitchen preparing wonderful food which was shared at the large dining table that had plenty of room for all of us.

We all took the opportunity to walk around the beautiful manicured gardens and play 'cricket' with the 3 year old boys. We heard lots of bird life but unfortunately no wombats.

The owner Bee is lovely and very helpful.

A week later we're still all saying 'I wish we were still at Sahali' and we will definitely be returning.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of staying at Sahali at Kangaroo Valley. We have tried to create the perfect getaway from it all - shared with family and friends and for celebratory occasions, whether staying in house for the whole period enjoying the pool and grounds in spring/summer or the cosy fires and barbeques in cooler months, or for those in the mood to venture to nearby Berry, the village of Kangaroo Valley or a quick trip to the Southern Highlands.
We would so very much warmly welcome you all back to once again enjoy your time together. Looking forward to seeing you again very soon.

“Sensational, Sublime and Stunning Stay”

I cant recommend Sahali strongly enough for the discerning traveler looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of our fast paced world. An easy 2 hour drive from the centre of Sydney, Sahali is positioned with breathtaking views up to the north of the Kangaroo Valley. The house itself is very well appointed, comfortable and the waters edge pool is something to behold.
Additionally Bee was fabulous to deal with and nothing was a problem, thanks for the fabulous stay.

“Idylic, Rustic, The Perfect Bushland Retreat for a Large Group”

Our Christmas was made extra special this year with a wonderful stay at Sahali, Kangaroo Valley. With ample space for 10-12 adults, Sahali is equipped with all of the amenities for a fun but relaxing stay.
Our first day (a sweltering 35 degrees) was spent in the infinity pool which has the most spectacular views over the valley. Christmas Eve was spent exploring the gardens, again lounging by the pool and topped off with a BBQ on the deck with some singing and dancing included! For Christmas Day, the temperatures dropped significantly (15 degrees) so we got to experience a completely different side to Sahali. With the fire wood supplied, we lit a blazing fire, drank mulled wine, while the chefs of the group prepared the Christmas Dinner.
Boxing Day was spent kayaking on the river followed by a beautiful dinner in Bistro One46 (both kayaking and restaurant are only 5-10 Minutes drive from Sahali and would highly recommend both)
Communication with the owner was excellent - we were given lots of advice, information and recommendations for activities prior to our arrival and security deposit was refunded within a few days of our departure.
I cannot fault Sahali, it was everything we hoped for and more.

“Nice views but dissapointing overall”
Reviewed 27 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Beautiful views, spacious living areas, nice pool in private location.

However somewhat dissapointing:

Expensive, not value for money.

Not enough bathroom space for the number of guests that this house accommodates - Only 2 toilets (and one of those toilets is attached to a bedroom).

Noisy for a tranquil setting. The highway is just below and plenty of traffic passing. Sakata’s make noise all day long also.

Needs tlc - carpet and lounge stained. Deck ageing with nails poking up. Temperature of Water in showers very difficult to balance.

Under equipped - 2 slice toaster for 12 guests and a small Weber bbq.

Sorry. Mediocre

"Beautiful views, spacious living areas, nice pool in private location,” in a home, set on 2 acres, which sleeps 12, available at $100.00 per person per night.

Disappointing review. We take a lot of pride in Sahali and love to share her with our guests - her quirkiness a feature quite different to most accommodation available in Kangaroo Valley.

Sahali started life as a three bedroom cottage in Berry - which travelled over the mountain to be placed on a patch of land with views overlooking the escarpment. Over the years, various owners have placed their own mark on her - extending the house to six bedrooms and loft storage, landscaping the gardens, installing the wet edge pool and building the surrounding decks and pavilion. Building limitations under Council rules dictate some of the amenities we are able to provide, as we are reliant on rain water tanks to provide water for the pool and showers etc, and filtered water for consumption, and not being connected to the sewage services, we have an envirocycle unit to filter, clean and disperse “used” water into the gardens. These limitations then translate to how many guests we can accommodate on any given stay and how many amenities (ie toilets) we are able to provide (based on an algorithm council dictates). The layout of Sahali and her nature of build have meant that the design of the bathroom attached to the master bedroom operates with two doors to facilitate use during the day, when the master bedroom may not be occupied.

We believe a six bedroom home sleeping twelve located on over two acres of land with landscaped gardens and a swimming pool offers good value at $100.00 per person per night in an area which offers visitors the beauty of Kangaroo Valley and the privacy of a home set well back on a block, surrounded by trees, whilst maintaining a view of the escarpment. Staying in the village at the local motel (with no breakfast) also comes in at just under $200.00 per couple per night. Whilst we are not a rural property, being located on Moss Vale Road, it is the peace and quiet which tends to exacerbate any noise from vehicles breaking unnecessarily when travelling down the mountain into Kangaroo Valley village itself. This same peace and quiet attracts local wildlife including wombats, echidnas, lyrebirds, and cicadas, whose activities and noise we are unable (even if we wished) to reduce. Many of our guests have commented that one of Sahali’s benefits is the beauty of nature on show.

As Sahali is often booked every weekend, sometimes it is difficult to arrange for professional cleaning (non-standard by our internal cleaning crew) between stays to address issues which have arisen solely due to guest stay. We ask that no shoes are worn inside, and we hope that whilst we wish our guests to relax and unwind, people will be careful with our furniture and mindful that our carpets are pale white in relation to not spilling drinks/food or seating themselves while still wearing wet from the pool clothing on our fabric lounges - all of which result in staining. We do however document all “existing damage” of which we aware to ensure our guests are not concerned that their security deposit may be compromised. It was therefore dispiriting to read that our notice of same, was then in turn used against Sahali in the tripadvisor review.

We do thank you for the letting us know that once again nails have started to protrude slightly in the outside decking - this is an area we work on constantly - removing nails and inserting screws - a slow and arduous process, required as expansion and then shrinkage (due to rainfall) of the timber decking results in nails rising in various areas over a period of time. Our external maintenance crew have been notified and repairs are being effected as we write. (The toaster was a great point, and we have added an additional four slice toaster for use by our guests, however the BBQ provided is a large Weber Q for which we have never received complaints as to size previously, and is advertised as the largest in the Weber Q range, feeding up to 15 people at a time.)

Our water system for the entire home is instantaneous and works on heating at source - by turning on the hot water first and allowing it to heat up, and then adjusting with cold water flow, we find no issues (we do include instructions in our Guest Information Book, however this may have been missed).

Mediocre is certainly not what we wish to present, and our many reviews, would suggest that the view expressed in this review is not shared by the majority of our guests; however, if for your guests, Sahali did not perform as expected, we can only apologise. We do however very much look forward to welcoming you back to Sahali on another occasion.

“Perfect for family get together!”
Reviewed 1 November 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Sahali was great for our family weekend away. The house is spacious with bedrooms in different wings so although there was a large group of us we didn’t feel like we were crowding each other. Our grandchildren loved exploring the grounds and we could safely let them do so. Spotting a wombat outside their bedroom window was a source of great excitement for our young grandsons!
The house is well appointed and had everything we could possibly have needed. There was also a large well mown area in the grounds that was perfect for our Finska tournaments!
My communications with the owner were excellent. Nothing was a problem (not even a lost wedding ring) which was promptly found and returned to its grateful owner.
Highly recommended!

So wonderful to read that you have enjoyed your time at our Sahali - to us, her style and space immediately seem to relax our visitors from the moment of their arrival along the treelined driveway. We ourselves, love the slightly quirky and rambling house design, with separate wings which allows our guests to be close, but not too close and means differing ages are able to enjoy all Sahali has to offer.
The native wildlife at Sahali is we believe part of her charm - providing an opportunity to see the lyrebirds, echidnas, wombats and on occasion wallabies who come to visit.
We hope to welcome you back to our Sahali very soon.
ps the green common is fabulous, for spending time playing games - and Finska would have meant hours of fun, as you tried to reach the perfect 50 score.
