We had a lovely stay at tolroy manor with toms holidays! Tudor court is a lovely area and the kids had a lovely area to play in as well as the on site facilities definitely will be staying again!

Gosh, where to start? Booked through Owners Direct we thought we had booked a quaint little cottage. Once booked realised its on a massive tacky holiday park. Misled at booking. Place smelt of damp, parking miles from carparks for luggage transportation. Not big enough for the 4 adults and 3 children we were. The kitchen was so small we could barely cook properly, and the there was no freezer there. The fridge was not big enough for our weeks worth of food so some food had to be left out and was ruined.

There was no outdoor furniture to sit on and there was no airer to hang wet swim stuff. The place had no back door and you are overlooked from every window. There was no washing machine even though it was listed on the description – there was a laundrette on the site, you had to pay for obviously. There was no wifi in the house so you could not connect to the internet unless you had strong mobile signal. If you wanted wifi you had to go to the ‘club house/bar’ area which we did not set foot in the whole week.

The house was basic and had a smell to it. It wasn’t totally clean on arrival. We brought 5 bikes with us and realised on arrival there was absolutely nowhere to store them. We had to lock them to a post or bring them inside each evening. So, don’t bring bikes if you book this place.

The house next door has a very miserable neighbour who played music very loudly and kept telling us how his property was privately owned and could we move the bikes away from his bit of land, and could the boys not play football near his house. Not very friendly.

The swimming pool was ok, but for such a massive site not big enough and the sauna was out of order.

If you are going to Cornwall I’m sure there are a load more far nicer places to stay than this.

Thank you for reviewing your holiday. We are sorry the property was not as you expected but, we are very surprised at the review and unfortunately you seem to have forgotten a great deal of what actually happened.

Before arrival you had emailed to ask about a freezer and we arranged a freezer for you. This was in the property before you arrived and no charge was made.

On the evening of arrival Saturday PM, I over heard someone talking about bikes being locked to a car without a key and guessed it was you as we had seen bikes on the car earlier on arrival at which point I popped around to you to offer help with the problem.. At 9pm we were there and happily assisted you with hack saws and bolt cutters, helping to remove the bike lock, for which you had no key.

Sunday PM after the office had closed for the day, we received an email with items you said were missing, despite the fact some were not advertised in the details, as being at the property. Within an hour, I personally responded to you by email and called both your mobiles. Items you described as missing included outdoor furniture, clothes airier and scissors and all of these, including outside furniture, were delivered to you Monday AM from our office. Your main complaint on the Sunday afternoon was a lack of hot water. We assume this worked correctly after we advised you how to switch it on, as we heard nothing further and there is no mention of it here.

Throughout, no mention was made of cleanliness.

The way marketing websites work, “launderette facilities” are listed as a “washing machine”. This is not something we do on our own website but when using these marketing websites, you have to fill in and work with their criteria.

Please note there is a back door out of the ground floor bedroom.

As stated before, you had emailed us and had spoken to the office on a few occasions but never request information about storing bikes or any other points. When you mentioned this on the Sunday PM, you were offered the facility of storing them at our office but appreciate this may not have been convenient.

It seems the main problem here, is not the property, but what you thought you had booked. We try very hard to be realistic about the properties and certainly you were informed that you had use of all the site facilities “ snooker room, games area, amusement area and family entertainment on your doorstep. “, indicating the property was on a holiday park.

We also take all photos showing what is outside, through the windows, as well as external photos clearly showing this is in a row of similar properties, facing another row of the same properties. With regards to the park in general, we do not run the facilities and were not aware of the sauna being out of use, for which we apologise.

For a high season school holiday week, you paid £880 for 7 people. This works out at less than £18pppn. We do rent large 4 bedrooms properties, not overlooked, with space to store bikes and views but prices start around £1750 per week. Despite the fact many people enjoy these holiday properties it is obviously not for you and we hope you find what you are looking for in the future.
