Or so I thought. It is a really interesting place, we had booked one of their guided tours round the air field on a Thursday at 2pm.

After reading other people's reviews glad that we arrived at 11.30 as this gave us ample time to visit all the exhibits, and have a picnic lunch in the naffi. There are picnic tables outside but it was windy so chose to sit inside. In the naffi you can make yourself a tea, coffee or squash and there are packets of crisps and chocolate biscuits. All they ask is 50p in an honesty box per item.

Don't miss the film right at the behining very informative. Lots of things to look at and very much a work in progress.

The actual tour round the disused air field was very interesting, lots of run down building explained as to what they were used for by a very friendly gentleman. The tour lasted 90 minutes.

Every one onsite is a volunteer, and they will stop and chat happly to you.

A great day out even for you ladies, I know that I enjoyed the experience.

Thank Jacandhow

We decided to pay a visit on our way back at the end of the holiday. Only knew about thanks to chatting to some ex RAF people we met in Padstow. So glad we went. Quite inspiring how the vision of a few enthusiasts can create something for so many to enjoy. And what a character Steve Perry is. But boy can he talk!

Spent a fascinating 5 hours at this museum. The introductory film is not to be missed. It gives such a good insight to the hard work put in by owner Steve and his volunteer team to create such a brilliant exhibition of the combined forces from 1914 to the present day. Amazing value for money!

My husband spotted the signs for the museum and I inwardly groaned. However I was stunned by this interesting jem of a museum. So much effort and love has gone into creating a treasure trove of information and artefacts. Wonderful time had by both of us.

The many years we have been coming to Cornwall we always go here. It just gets larger and larger and it is shameful they get no funding from anyone, but rely on us the visitors. The staff are so very knowledgeable and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them to answer. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours and it doesn't matter whether it is rain of shine. So much history of our past and displayed so will with a map for you to find your own way around and in your own time, if you get there at nearly closing time, the guys are very accommodating so you can still get round and see everything. and you can get a cup of tea in the NAFFI.
