Had a Bank Holiday meal today : The Queens Head while attending the Open Mic
They had a excellent Bank Holiday menu offering a main course for £5.99 which looked superb but I opted for the special board and had Surf & Turf and I must say was the correct choice.
The steak was cooked to perfection and exactly the way I requested and the scampi and home made chips were excellent. It came with a delightful crisp fresh salad it was £14.95 and worth every penny I must say.
This is a pub I know well and have eaten there many times and have never been disappointed by the standard of delicious, hot and well presented food I have had every time and I have no hesitation in recommending you eat here.
If you read my reviews you know I put a lots of importance on the cleanliness of the toilets they say a lot about the place and their loos were spotless and clean.

Used to drink here regularly even though the atmosphere was severely lacking. The place really needs a renovation and some ambience, at least put some music on!

Went one night with a group of friends to be confronted by the Landlord (who seemed to be drunk), he was rude and aggressive and asked where we from (is this a local pub for local people?!) and that we needed to keep the noise down. Keep the noise down in a pub? It was 8pm on a Saturday night and we weren’t even loud. It was embarrassing to take our friends there.

Haven’t been back since and won’t bother spending my cash here in the future unless the management changes.

We purchased tickets for New year's eve just before xmas. Turned up last night to be told that they had cancelled the band and the casino table as they hadn't Sold enough tickets! Obviously the lady refunded our money, but we were really annoyed and disappointed as where would we go now, all places are ticketed NYE. I've been in the licensed trade and no way would I have ever have done that, I would have taken the hit. Money would have been made over the bar. We just had the one drink, which I think the landlady should have given to us, and left but while we were there I counted at least 20 people come and go disappointed and that was just in the short time we were there. We shall not bother wIth this pub again. No thanks to the management of the queens head for ruining our new year's eve!

We visited this pub before our haunted experience at drakelow tunnels. The lady serving on the bar was absolutely as was the food. However when we asked for some bbq sauce for four of us, we were given a small pot ( enough for one ) we politely asked for some more to be told “ The chef said there is no more” Which I believe to be untrue. Then after our meal we were rudely interrupted by a male ( whom I assume to be the landlord ) who abruptly accused us of being noisy and swearing outside. I find this to be an absolute insult that he had the audacity to come over not even introduce himself and wrongly accuse us.
& one last comment , if you’re not a local do not bother going as they all then their noses up at you.
