I love museums and this one didn't disappoint. What a shame I only had time to visit the ground floor. It's very well set out with lots of local information. The fact that it's free should not hold you back from making a donation. This one really deserves to be supported.

Athelstan Museum is always worth a visit but even more so at the moment as my Village has an exhibition there on its History. The History group has gathered together an impressive display........ a MUST SEE!

A lot of local information can be found here. a lot of information on King Athelstan, since Malmesbury was his favorite place. It is on the town square and we parked right next to it. The attendants were most helpful. It is free and has some good madels of the abbey.

Accepting donations. A lot of information packed into a small place. Interesting exhibits, some change and some stay the same, but always interesting and informative.

Athelstan Museum is a lovely little museum that covers the history of Malmesbury beautifully and is well worth a visit. The volunteers who run it are also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.
