A lot of local information can be found here. a lot of information on King Athelstan, since Malmesbury was his favorite place. It is on the town square and we parked right next to it. The attendants were most helpful. It is free and has some good madels of the abbey.

Accepting donations. A lot of information packed into a small place. Interesting exhibits, some change and some stay the same, but always interesting and informative.

Athelstan Museum is a lovely little museum that covers the history of Malmesbury beautifully and is well worth a visit. The volunteers who run it are also incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.

We visited malmesbury on a Saturday afternoon and were pleased to see there was a local museum open. The museum is free, but donations are needed towards the upkeep. It is on 2 floors, with a great model of the abbey and area. There are so many interesting facts about places in the area, it makes you want to look for them in the town afterwards! The volunteers are really enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. A must if you're in the area. There are a lot of thongs to keep the children busy too.

excellent, informative lots of interesting displays and collections. spent a couple of hours there and can honestly say I looked at and read everything whereas in larger museums there is a tendancy to skip past some things. would not have missed this for the world. Run entirely by volunteers who where informative and very helpful. Very proud of their towns history. Well done all for this marvellous display.
