“Great cottage, perfect for families.”

We travelled with a small family group of mixed ages (Age 7-78). The cottage was perfect for us with plenty of space especially the kitchen which was a joy to cook in with a massive window looking out into the garden. It was April so the weather wasn't great for sitting out but could imagine in the summer spending lovely evenings in the garden. Devizes is a few minutes drive away and is a lovely town with plenty of supermarkets for provisions and little interesting shops to browse and the caen hill canal locks are something not to be missed. The local village Cost cutter is fine for milk, bread and papers but limited for anything else. Very helpful and welcoming owner.

“excellent house for small group Avebury Tour”
Reviewed 6 January 2012 for a stay in December 2011

Everything was splendid: rooms, beds, space in and around the house, warm, baths and (dish)washingmachines and AV apliances all up and running, very kind and caring host who keeps in touch while you're approaching and offers a welcoming package on table and in fridge.... House close enough to the Avebury Circles, quiet village and street. Priced conform the plain simplicity: good house, well maintained and restructured, with simple functional furniture and enough of everything to keep a party of 6-8 people comfortably hosted and rested. Thanks, Bruce!

“Perfect Cottage in beautiful countryside”

Have just returned from a week's holiday at Cheyne Cottage. Was welcomed by Bruce who was friendly and pointed out local amenities and places of interest. A lovely cottage with everything you need - home from home. Very spacious, and ideal for our big group (4 adults, 2 children). The cottage is very clean, cosy and furnished to a high standard with a lovely private garden in a quiet area but within easy reach of many attractions in Wiltshire/Somerset.

“Lovely cottage, very helpful owner, we had a great stay.”

We had a wonderful time at Cheyne Cottage. It's a lovely house with everything you need - open dining/kitchen space, lovely big comfortable lounge, nice furnishings, comfortable beds, bath and separate shower, good central heating and hot water. It's homely and well looked after. We had several groups of people come to stay during our 2 weeks there, and everyone loved it. The owner is very friendly and wonderfully helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There is a sheltered garden, lovely to sit out and to watch the birds. The village itself is lovely, everyone is very friendly and there's a great little 'Cost Cutter' supermarket. There are some great countryside walks around the town and the church is well worth seeing, as well as being close to Bath, Salisbury etc for sightseeing. The cottage is not easy to get to as it's on a difficult corner, but once you get used to it, it's fine. (Satnav will take you to Mill Lane in a different village, so make sure you get to Potterne first!). Highly recommended.
