I have stayed at many expensive per night rentals. Usually they are either ocean front or at a resort with other amenities. They are certainly always very modern with new bathrooms and granite countertops, typically high end furnishings too.(think Reunion Resort at Disney). This house was lacking that level of quality for the price. It was a nice Pocono house.
The space is plenty big for a large group. I took only the wife and two young kids. So way more space than we needed but we rented for the pool alone. The cabinetry in the kitchen is from the 70’s and there were about 20 cabinets, all empty. If you plan to cook for a large group of say 15 plus.....you’d have to bring your own griddle, large bowls for mixing and bigger pots and pans. There were a few pots, and some very beat up old pans. I understand it is a rental....but you could take the $ from one nights stay each year and you could upgrade the kitchen cookware every year.(or 2). The bathroom in the Master Bedroom has an old green step in tub circa 1960-70’s. Again.....all working but not what I’m used to at this price. Also the picture shows a diving board which my kids were super excited about. There was no diving board. :-( It was outback in the yard. Also you can’t control the pool heat. The water was comfortable during the day but a little cold at night. Also all bedrooms had blinds that come 6 inches short of touching the bottom. Pretty secluded out there but if there were a peeper in the woods......you are set up to give a show from every room. Very strange. Also.....there is cable tv but no BluRay/DVD players in the rooms. They cost $50 bucks and should be there for those of us who bring some movies. We ended up watching a movie via a PS3 on the smallest TV in the house. The pool area is a Little dark and could use twice the lighting. The picture is deceiving. Also there is a huge library room with wall to wall book shelves. Not a single book or game on the shelf .
Now for the good..... the place is huge and has a great yard with volleyball net. We didn’t use this but it would certainly be great in nice weather with a large group. Location is perfect. Close to Camelback/Camel beach. The house water pressure was great and hot water was a plenty. Ping pong and pool table are nice too. The pool is awesome and that was again, the whole draw for me. You can control the heat in the room but not the water. So that helped. I would go back for the pool.
