This place is awesome! Super friendly and comfy atmosphere. Plenty to do for all members of the family. Amazing meals brought by top notch servers. Fun entertainment. For a midwinter getaway, it doesn't get any better than this!

A7655ZKheidip-

Thank you for your recent stay at our resort!

We appreciate all of your kind words. We feature more than 30 daily activities for all ages and tastes, so it is our hope that everyone finds plenty of ways to fill up their days with fun and relaxation. We are very proud of our dining team- on top of our tasty meals, we are very proud of the staff that has been the cornerstone of the Woodloch vacation experience since we opened our doors in 1958.

Every night a new act takes the stage in our Nightclub, from magicians to jugglers and even our famous "Woodloch Horse Races." We look forward to bringing our Broadway-style Theme Show back to the stage as soon as government restrictions ease a bit more for all of us.

Thank you again for your stay and kind words. We hope to see you again soon!

Sincerely, and on behalf of the Woodloch Family,
Brooke James, Owner

My family has taken quite a few trips to Woodloch and have always had a great time being pampered by the amazing hospitality and family feel, as well as enjoying all the fun games and activities that the staff runs. This trip we came as a family and brought some friends of our kids. These friends are first time guests of Woodloch and they had such a good time. The games and activities can be played and enjoyed by guests of all ages and certain activities you can win medals. At the same time there are places to relax and sit by the fire (while watching the snow fall), play in the indoor pool or soak in the hot tub. There is so much to do and enjoy ! Great place to go for all ages!

Thank you for your stay, and reviewing our resort!

We are very proud to hear you had a good stay with us! In addition, we are very happy to hear you brought some friends along and shared with Woodloch experience with them them! In our early days, "word of mouth" advertising was about the only way we did advertise, yet even in 2021, personal reference from a trusted friend is still the most important way experiences can be shared. So thank you doubly!

The Woodloch experience is a special one, whether you are just exploring our resort at your own speed and enjoying amenities or truly getting wrapped into friendly competition and chasing medals. Whatever your speed is, we are happy to offer both and everything in between.

Once again, we thank you for the kind words and for sharing our resort with new friends. We look forward to having everyone return real soon!

Sincerely, and on behalf of the Woodloch Family,

I legit did not think that all these great reviews could be valid, as I have been let down before with other "highly rated family resorts." This was really fantastic! My husband, I and 6 year old son sought a break from NYC and a change of scene while my son remote schooled. We stayed sunday - friday in one of the coldest weeks we've ever experienced with lots and lots of snow. 20 degrees and below easily.

It was terrific. So many activities, competitions, free amenities/entertainment. Of note, the resort is being run at 50% capacity and the staff his very good about masking and reminding people to mask at every single event. The guests I would say...were maybe 85% compliant. We were usually able to easily avoid those who were non compliant.

My kid LOVED the massive pool, water slides, multiple events, bumper cars, indoor multilevel playground and laughed so hard he snorted at the nightly shows. The staff were pleasant to friendly! Surprise, they actually seem to like people! The only time the staff were more serious is when it came to competitions. *DO NOT* bother trying to joke around with them when it comes to the competitions! I attempted multiple times (**crickets**). They do not mess around when it comes to their contests.

Food was solid (and we are picky NYC people). The soups and the bakery items were standouts. The lifeguards were on point which I very much appreciated. The servers in the dining room were consistently nice (we loved alaina).

We stayed at the springbrook rooms which were perfect distance between the pool and the main buildings, easy walking for us typical city dwellers. Everything was very clean and in working order (for sure I figured some stuff would be a little worn out or falling off the hinges, etc.)

It was a lovely trip and one of the bright sides of having to travel close to home is being able to discover this wonderful gem! We decided to go back next month for a few days when my son is on actual school break, so he can have the full day to partake in all the activities.

Stayed with wife, 2 toddlers and another couple with same age kids.
The staff was great and accommodating to every need. Covid precautions taken everywhere. All of the winter activities were lots of fun and well managed. It’s like being on a cruise but for winter. All around good stuff.
Minor details I’d make better is the shuttle takes a while to get around (20 minutes) and with the cold and impatient kids, that was a minor issue. We ended up driving to the main lodge every time.
Also the 2 meal x day plan was exciting at first but the quality of the the food was mediocre at best. The cafe was excellent though. Great coffee and to go snacks/ sandwiches.

A big pro is the proximity to Bear a mountain ski area.
Highly recommend it, it’s a short 15 min drive away.

DannyLandman-

Thank you for your recent visit and for taking the time to share your experiences with the TripAdvisor community.

We are glad to hear you had a largely positive experience on your getaway. With so many toddlers in tow, it is important to keep the kids as entertained as we can while also providing parents the opportunity to enjoy themselves. Many of our activities are tailored to give families the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together and bond, and we are hopeful you were able to do that. With such a large scope of activities available, it's true- we are often called "a cruise on land."

Our shuttle busses make their rounds across our 135 acre property every 10 minutes or so, give or take. Due to the vast size of our property and the needs of guests staying across it, the busses need to complete their routes to accommodate all guests that may be waiting. Rest assured, a ride is never too far away!

Big Bear is a wonderful spot to get a nice taste of that classic Pocono Mountains skiing that so many of us love and remember- plus, it's a wonderful location to learn, especially for children! We encourage interested guests to check it out.

Thank you once more for your visit- we hope to see everyone again soon!

Sincerely, and on behalf of the Woodloch Family,

Brooke James, Owner

Absolutely worst hotel I have ever dealt with. Horrible customer service. They have completely ruined our entire family vacation. We booked two months ago and I was told today (2 weeks out) that they are cancelling our room to host a larger group. They have no regard for what it takes to plan a vacation, take time off from work, coordinate days off of school and all they offered was a future date. Well we can’t just pick another day. They only care about making the extra money off the extra rooms they can book and could care less about disappointing my children who I already shared photos and plans with. Do not book this hotel they have no interest in making customers happy and will cancel on you and leave you with no vacation.

Elianna,

We completely share your frustration with this situation, and as you know, we are deeply sorry for this disruption in your plans. You are more than justified in your feelings, and we won't excuse that away, but I do hope you can see it from our perspective.

It’s no surprise how challenging this past year has been on all of us, and in particular the hospitality industry, and our family owned and operated business of 63 years has been in a year-long existential battle. From shuttering our doors for 90 days to completely reimagining the Woodloch experience in accordance with the highest safety and governmental regulations, without umbrella financial assistance along the way, this year we have been forced to make hard decisions. Taking a corporate buyout of our resort is something we’ve never done before, but it is a necessary risk in order to help minimally offset the crushing burdens bestowed upon us these last 11 months.

In all honesty, this has been a very painful decision for us to make. We are not a corporation. We are a family, and the disappointment we have to share with you and your family, and the others affected by this decision is cause for sleeplessness and heartache from the decision makers, our entire family, and the agents who have to bear the burden of sharing this news.

While it doesn’t make the conversation any easier, the truth is we are offering more than just the option to move your date, but rather the option to move your stay to any other date “at-cost,” along with hundreds of dollars back. It is our intent to make this right with you along with anyone else this effects because we do care about service. We care deeply about your experience with Woodloch, and making our guests happy is our ultimate goal.

This is certainly not the tenor we wish to end on, but we know that we’ll be in contact again. Most importantly, we are deeply sorry for disappointing you and your family. I hope that you change your mind, move your dates and get to experience, in person, the magic and true hospitality of a Woodloch stay.

On behalf of the entire Woodloch family,
Brooke James
