This comfortable home near Raystown Lake was my family's "soft place to land" on our 5-day vacation. The house is secluded, with quiet neighbors nearby, but out of sight. The property, at the top of a hill, is surrounded by woods. The large yard is entirely fenced and includes a firepit; we found plenty of firewood on hand. The interior of the house has been recently updated, and the owners have been mindful of the needs of vacationers. The spacious kitchen is very well-equipped with a generous supply of dishes, utensils, and cookware. There is a 4-seated kitchen table, but we chose to eat at the picnic table on the large screenporch. The living room furniture (large couch and 2 recliners) is comfy and clean. We opened the windows and enjoyed fresh breezes, but there are air conditioners in every room (and 2 ceiling fans), and heat for the winter months as well as a gas stove in the living room. The beds (2 queen & 2 single bunks) were very comfortable. Clean sheets and thick towels are provided. There are too many little nice touches to enumerate, but be assured that you will feel at home the minute you walk in the door. An example- There are hooks near every room from which you may hang your backpacks, jackets, leashes, etc. The property is dog friendly. You should be aware that there is no television or WIFI service, although there is a TV and a selection of DVDs. We also had only sporadic cell phone service (ATT). It was wonderful to unplug for 5 days! We actually had conversations! From the house, it's a short drive to Raystown Lake and Trough Creek State Park. We enjoyed kayaking (our own kayaks) and fishing. There is a large parking area at the house. The road and driveway are a little rutted, but you should have no problem if you drive slowly. I wholeheartedly recommend this house for your family vacation.
