I went here with sky high hopes and expectations. And I enjoyed lunch, but did not meet my expectations. It’s pretty standard food and the pie was good. I might have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t expecting one of the best lunches of my life. I found the pies to be fine and the lunch adequate.
My friend and I met for lunch. We both had Chicken Pot Pie. The crust pairs better with fruit in my opinion. However, it was very nice. I had a Mocha. It was the star of the show for me. Many coffee shop make the just over the top with chocolate. This was just right coffee to chocolate ratio.
The setting is very peaceful.
The store was great but the pie was better. Make sure you add a little ice cream to the marionberry pie, it was great!
I’ve been making treks to the Willamette Valley Pie Company for several years. Today as a treat we took our 97 year old friend there for lunch. We had the soup of the day, rustic chicken noodle and a toasted cheese sandwich with a bag of chips and a can of pop for $12 each. I can honestly say this was no treat. The cheese was good on the sandwich, but the bread was tough and hard. The soup was thin and not much of it. I can make better soup at home than I was served. The best part about the meal was the Jones soda which was made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, a definite plus. We bought a peach pie to take home for later. When we cut into it we saw that each slice had 2 slices in it, the rest was jelled syrup. The worst.
Unfortunately I will not be hankering to pay another visit for lunch or a pie. I did get a chocolate toffee muffin that was good. The rest of it….. a big thumbs down. Sorry, I do not like to give bad reviews but this did not deserve a good one.
What a place to visit, they have a nice little play ground for kids to play on and they have picnic benches so you can have lunch and ice cream. They have a daily special, we had Red, White and Blue when we went. It was Blue Berries, Strawberries and Vanilla ice cream sundae, very good. The store had lots of jams, jellies, pies and lots of other stuff to purchase. The pies you could get were either baked or you could bake. Outside sitting was selling hot dogs with things to go with them. Really nice place to visit.
Came for pie "happy hour" but there was no pie happy hour (Wednesday, March 31st).
In fact, at 9:30 or so am, they only had a few turnovers in the case and one marionberry muffin available.
I had high hopes since this place was recommended by a friend, who had gone the week before.
Their website does not have very specific information and wasn't easily read on my phone. Although it did advertise Happy Hour 9-11, Monday- Friday, dine in only)
My marionberry muffin was good but didn't have as many berries as I would have expected from a pie company that prides itself on Oregon marionberries.
Disappointed.
