As far as museums go this one is small and quaint and very easy to get around. The staff are helpful and it is connected to a couple of other museums across from a park. This would take a good 1 -2 hours to visit if you really took your time

While not the largest museum in the US, visiting the Portland Art Museum nicely rounds out a visit that otherwise includes probably too much eating and drinking. Walk to this museum from your hotel downtown and you will not only burn enough calories to offset consuming another good Portland meal, but you will also be able to feed your mind with some very nice Asian, American Impressionist, and Modern art. If you time your visit right, you might also be able to catch the exhibit of streamlined cars of the 30s and 40's. Located in a nice, walkable part of Portland, this is a great place to invest three or four hours consuming some mind food.

Well received. I haven't yet reached the right age for senior discount but my partner does yet they gave us both the senior discount, a very nice gesture. It took us 5 hours to visit the whole museum. It is much larger than it appears at first glance from the outside. From streamlined vehicles (temporary exhibit) to amazing Native American and fantastic NW artists works for art.

Well displayed with much space between each piece, giving you time to breathe, think. Simple coffee sandwich bar next to gift shop. As many others mentioned however their map of the museum leaves much to be desired and is difficult to make sense of. Once you get the hang of it however it is easy. Our map for example still said Asian Art and that display had been long gone and replaced with something else.

A couple of the modern pieces said they were created at a much earlier date than the newspaper clippings used to make these pieces stated. How can a piece say it was created in 2012 when the newspaper used for the piece says 2017? Many such mistakes in the signage around the museum - attention to details could be improved.

One docent in particular was very enthusiastic about showing us two pieces on the floor he was' guarding' - a ceramic piece that looked exactly like a leather purse and a sculpture that looked made of wood and tin cans but was actually made of porcelain. It was really nice this gentleman pointed these out as they were very interesting and fantastically well made pieces.

Thank you

Visited this museum for a special display of cars in June 2018 and it was worth it. If you are in the Portland area and love cars be sure to go. Very good collection of north western art.

My daughter visited the Portland Art Museum with her preschool class, and insisted we go again as a family so she could show us the Laika exhibit. What a relaxing and wonderful time spent as a family! This is a great place for kids to let their imagination grow!I think it was $40 admission on a weekday, but know they offer free days as well.
