“Beautiful view...pretty much as advertised.”
Reviewed 15 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The view from this cottage is very beautiful, and just as pictured. The town is very small, just as described. Be sure to bring basic supplies, such as ice. (Housekeeping had not bothered to fill the ice cube trays.) There is no store or quick shop in Oceanside, although there is in Netarts, two miles away. The property was actually pretty well supplied, and they did warn that they only provided starter amounts of basics, but I had to search for a bar of soap. I found one in the downstairs bath. I also found some liquid soap, so I was fine, but if you really had 6 people it would have been a problem. Other supplies, such as paper towels and toilet paper were abundant. Also, the owners provided a good supply of emergency supplies, which impressed me.
Earlier reviews mentioned needing curtains on the bedroom windows. They now have nice shades. Also, the steps are not tiled, but are rather made of wood. Didn't seem particularly tricky to me. The washer and dryer were also a nice touch.
It is true that the roads are narrow and tricky. If you take a wrong turn it can get very dicey, in my opinion. The parking spot is parallel to the front door.. a little tricky, but I got used to it.
I would definitely warn against arriving after dark. The front porch light is either burned out or broken. I asked the management company twice to fix it and they did not. It is very dark out front. And, even if they fix the light you will want a flashlight (as they recommend) to see the lock box when you arrive.
I found the place very clean and just as described. When I called the management company I did reach a person each time.
I think the television was in an awkward position, but that is pictured in the description. I'm not sure about 3 or 4 people all trying to watch at the same time.
Also as mentioned, there are two restaurants in the town, one of which has limited hours and the other has good hours, excellent food, and wonderful service (Roseanna's).
My only other comment has to do with the bedding in the master bedroom. The bed itself was fine but the comforter was completely deteriorated so it resembled a big bag of clumps. The duvet cover kept it together but you couldn't really use it as a cover. It was July so it worked out OK for me.

“Remarkable location on the coast”

It's hard to beat Oceanside if you want to stay on the Oregon coast. And as far as home rentals go, it would be hard to beat La Petite Maison in Oceanside. Everything about the house is great, especially the incredible view! We went to several hot spots along the coast during our stay (as far north as Cannon Beach) and I never regretted picking Oceanside as a home-base; a very charming little town. There are three cafes within walking distance; all serve breakfast & lunch but dinner hours are spotty depending on the day of the week.

The house sits on a steep hill with a narrow gravel road running behind it. Oceanside is small so it's impossible to get lost, but at the same time the roads can be confusing when you first roll into town. Our GPS did a good job of getting us to the right spot though. They only allow one vehicle at the house, which makes sense because there is no possible way another vehicle could fit anywhere else.

The main door leads into the top level of the house which enters into the kitchen, and beyond that is the dining area and the master bedroom/bathroom. The lower level has a gaming table and sitting room with another bed, a TV, and a bathroom with a tub. The front of the house features a deck on both levels, plus a large third deck below the second level. Ocean views from everywhere! This house is ideally situated for two couples or a family with a couple kids. I added some pictures here to give a better perspective than what is shown elsewhere online. One thing worth noting is the master bathroom upstairs does not have a door; it is open to the rest of the bedroom.

The one and only thing that left a bad taste in our mouths is management's list of rules upon check-out. It's one thing to ask to take out the trash and wash your dishes, but it's another thing to strip all the beds, do the laundry, fold all the towels, etc. I forget the entire long list of do's and dont's posted on the fridge, but I remember leaving the house fearing that we forgot to do some nit-picky thing and would get charged for it. Since I paid $630+ for three nights, including a cleaning fee, one would think we wouldn't have to spend the last morning doing chores around the house instead of enjoying the fleeting moments of our vacation. The reservation process is very old-fashioned (filling out actual pieces of paper and faxing credit card info), but that didn't bother me. TripAdvisor's "Rental Inbox" served as a good communication hub for all our correspondence. All that being said, we're already talking about staying here again when/if we come back to Oregon. Excellent place.

What an excellent job you did in describing all the elements that we also experience as so special about our home and the community and location of Oceanside. Your photos are great and gave us some ideas on how to display the decks better.

On the positive side concerning the master bath, it provides an ocean view even from the shower. There is a full bath downstairs with a door to accommodate privacy needs.

Our management company suggest calling them directly at 503-812-0282 to streamline the reservation process.

Thank you for staying at La Petite Maison

“The perfect beach house”

The house exceeded all our expectations. Although perhaps "petite" to some, we found it pretty spacious - especially with its three separate deck levels. It was nicely and comfortably furnished, too. The best thing was lying in the crisp white sheets, in the sky-blue bedroom, feeling like we were floating in the clouds as we listening to the roar of the ocean below. The second best thing was being five minutes' walk from the beach and from the fantastic Oceanside restaurants. You can save a lot of money using the house's well-appointed kitchen (buy fresh fish from the fishmonger in Tillamook or dockside in Garibaldi, and sausages from Debbie D's in Tillamook), and then splurge for an excellent dinner at Roseanna's.

The only caution I'd make to other travelers is that the master bedroom/bathroom is very much one room - there is no door between the sleeping area and the sink, toilet and shower. However, there is a second bathroom with a door downstairs, so we found that this wasn't really a problem.

“One of the best vacations ever!”

This is a really lovely property. It is really nicely done inside and out and it has fabulous views. The decks are nice and very relaxing to sit on at sunset. The beds are very comfy and the kitchen was first rate. The only sound you will hear are the waves below and the wind through the trees outside the window. The only thing I would change is I would put curtains on the window in the master bedroom. It is a great view from the bed, but makes for a pretty early wake up...
