Enjoyed the location, size of apt., and fact that it has a kitchen. The owner was very accommodating and made the trip a pleasure. As a matter of fact, we're going back for another visit this spring!

How easy was it to book the property? How helpful were the directions to the property?
How easy was key pickup/access to the property? Overall condition of the property

Liked best: Location on the water front
Liked least: Must be able to climb stairs to get to the apt.

“Excellent location & view of Yaqunia Bay Harbor.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sail Inn in Newport, OR. We had previously traveled the entire coast in August of 2008 and wanted to return during the off season. We recalled visiting Newport in 2008 for shopping & lunch and felt it would be an excellent location for the value and were not to be disappointed in the least. We stayed at the Sail Inn a total of 9 nights during this visit...November 26 through December 4. The owners are most pleasant and have a very good website to view that includes pictures of the accommodations. The view from the apartment of the harbor and all the fishing boats was awesome! Haven't been this relaxed while on vacation for quite some time. So different from staying in a hotel / motel. We prepared the majority of our own meals, especially breakfast and dinner. It was great to be able to walk half a block and purchase seafood at Local Ocean...fresh from the boats! Seafood for dinner was "a must" for us! We prepared salmon, halibut, petrale (sole), rockfish, scallops & crab cakes. I also had my first experience shucking my own oysters oysters...a bit of a challenge but they were delicious! The kitchen in the apartment had every appliance with the exception of a broiler oven. We did make do by either pan searing or using a somewhat small toaster oven.

We experienced exceptionally good weather during our stay, untypical of one of the more rainy months during the year. We only had 1 day with rain...daytime temperatures in the low to mid 50's & 30's during the night. Our days were spent shopping the local merchants & taking small excursions up and down the coast, (south as far as Florence, north as far as Lincoln City). There are a few places in the area that make & will teach you to make glass so we took the opportunity to do just that at Oregon Coast Glassworks. It's located just across the bridge on SE Ferry Slip Road. This was most interesting & fun too. We also visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Yaquina Head Lighthouse & tide pools. The ocean waves are incredible, the sunsets are beautiful, the local people are very friendly and being from the midwest, the fresh seafood is to die for! We're definitely looking forward to returning to the Oregon Coast.

“So enjoyable”
Reviewed 19 July 2011 for a stay in August 2010

We stayed here for a number of days last year and tried to write a review, but some how could find vacation rentals on Trip Advisor - glad to find it now. (And .. . we actually stayed in July of 2010, but . . that option wasn't available in the scroll down)

This was our first expereince at a vacation rental. The owner was very nice, and we found him most gracious and easy to work with.

We LOVED being able to walk out our door and be on the main street - to be able to visit the unique shops, to hear the noises of the ocean front, to go to a place to eat, etc. It was great!!!!

A concern initally, being over a cafe, was would the noise be bothersome. It was not. You do get noise from the active fishing community and plant across the street, but . . we didn't mind that, either - it was part of experiencing the community we came to visit. It was soo interesting to watch the process at the plant!!!!

The views from here are incredible.

There is a deck to enjoy, also. In that there are two apts. that are rented, while the deck is "private" (divided by the height of one piece of lattice work), you really don't have truly private space. Again, that wasn't a problem to us - it might be if you want real privacy.

The one area of concern for me (not for my husband) was that the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs.; there is a narrow, steep spiral staircase. I've never been a fan of stairs, but . . this was a challenge at night when needing to use the bathroom - again by going slowly and carefully, it worked fine - just wanted to make a note of that.

There are sky lights in the bedroom area - so you can enjoy the night sky.In the apt. we had, there was a tempur-pedic mattress. We'd never slept on that before - and it was nice.

We really enjoyed having the kitchen there - to use as desired and then to also be to go out the door and go out to eat. We also enjoyed driving around and exploring the town and the area a bit.

While "homey" we enjoyed our stay alot - And . . in noting the questions below re:"older traveler" or "travelers w/children" or "romantic" - that would certainly depend on the how agile the older traveler was, how well behaved the children were and what you consider romantic!!!
