We Loved the Monument RV park.
We had a beautiful spot with shade trees, 50 Amp service and full hookups. Our Picnic table under a tree was comfortable even mid day in August.
Friendly helpful new owners have plans to update the motel rooms. The RV part is already great.
We Had an absolutely wonderful Eclipse Viewing experience.

We arrived just at dusk, deer already walking across the road we were very fortunate that the original owners were still hanging around the office as the new owners were off site and with no cell service the office phone was the only way to reel in the new owners to get into our room. The room is exactly what we expected for this location.

Monument is town of only 125 people. It is located on the North Fork of the John Day River, approximately 120 miles southwest of Pendleton, 60 miles northwest of John Day, 142 miles northeast of Bend, and 190 miles southeast from the Portland airport.

This is a combination Motel and RV park. This is the ONLY place in town to stay if you wish to visit here. And this is a great place to visit if you wish to explore the John Day fossil Beds.

The park/motel is very quiet and peaceful. Located directly next to a large open field where wildlife such as deer, Mountain Goats and wild turkey can be spotted. It is a very simple park with a friendly family owned staff.

It could stand some improvements, but considering the very small town size, it is amazing it exists at all.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a view of the fields and hills
