Elkhorn golf course
Reviewed 3 weeks ago via mobile

I was disappointed with what kind of shape the golf course in general was after driving all the way up there. The tee boxes had not been mowed for awhile, the grass was 2-2 1/2 inches tall and there were many divots that were old and had not been repaired. The fairways were really rough and some of them had trenchs running through them that were 3-4 inches deep and a couoke that were deeper than that. The greens had some really rough patches on them which made an accurate putt nearly impossible. We headed off at 0900 and three of the fairways we came to still had sprinklers going which made it really nice to try to hit your ball without getting soaked. There were a few places on the cart path (where you had to stay in the cart path) that had 2-3 inches of mud on them so while you were driving through it in the 75 degree weather the tires were throwing mud all over. The bathroom supplies needed to be replenished and cleaned as the garbage can was literally overflowing onto the floor. All in all for the price of the golf and the long drive to get to it, it wasn’t worth it.

Elkhorn has been one of our favorite courses in Oregon and after recently spending a weekend there it remains a most favored.
Tony, the owner, was accommodating and generous. We arrived quite late and he let us use a cart although the pro shop would c lose before we finished. "No problem".
The next morning there was a large tournament but he told us to just use the same cart if we wanted as long as we were off by 8.
It is great to have a fine and challenging course with a welcoming staff.
Highly recommended.

The golf course is well laid out and not without a few challenges. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The is a small pro shop on site. Most summer weekends it is best to have reservations. Greens fees are affordable and reasonable. Dining is very limited and basic. Cart rentals are available but it is best to reserve the limited supply. This course was established by one family many years ago and until recently was exclusively owned by them until it was purchased by a corporation.

This was once a wonderful golf course off the beaten path, scenic and well maintained. Now-- I watered, solid rock like dirt tee boxes, unwatered fairways and overall unacceptable experience. Avoid this course unless the current owners begin to care for the course.
