Continued from Mt. Hood along scenic hwy, campgrounds and trails in abundance. I would
recommend a full tank of gas in beginning of journey as a safe measure gas stations a bit down road. The terrain is just beautiful in the shadow of Mt. Hood with Mt. Jefferson in distance. Along our route we came across lots of vineyards some offered wine tasting. The point view was just that a great view nothing to do but great pictures. After a long day the outdoor air made us hungry so we went down to Riverside Restaurant along the River which I reviewed had a fantastic lunch.

A quick drive out of Hood River. Definitely worth the side trip. Cloud cover and haze will determine how striking Hood appears. If you drive down from the point and go west across the valley, you may see Mt. St. Helens!

If you are taking a day trip from Portland through the Columbia Gorge and around Mt. Hood, this is a not-to-be-missed stop on your route. About 10 minutes from downtown Hood River in an orchard filled valley, this is a a little park on a hill with an incredible view of Mt. Hood. The road leading up to it can be easy to miss -- Eastside Rd is on your left just as you leave Hood River on Hwy 35. The park is 1.7 miles up on your right. Bring a camera!

One of the highlights of our drive was this viewpoint with it's stunning view of mountains, valleys and blossoming apple trees. We met a family who could tell us the names of the two largest mountains, Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. The hugeness of the view, horizon to horizon, held us spellbound.
