“A great place for a picnic and or a flat run”

I enjoy Willamette park. It's great to run along the river, it's nice and flat. There is a picnic area near the south end, also it's a boat put-in at the North end. It is a very long skinny park. You have to be careful to observe the leash rules if you take a dog. Access to the river is limited from the south end. You have to be vigilant of the current if you let your dog go in the river. It can be quite high. And during the winter Willamette park is often very muddy or under water. It is not as picturesque as the hill forest parks but it's an OK place to go.

Between 10:30 and noon on a Tuesday it was a quiet park with people doing a variety of activities.

This is a large multi-use park. There are paved and unpaved trails. A wide paved trail follows a fence that follows the river. South of the south parking area is an off leash section of paved trail. The trail is used by cyclists, runners and walkers.

South is also the Corvallis water treatment plant.

North of the parking lot are various sports fields. There is also a well established disc golf course.

North is a wooded area with a variety of bird life. Parts of the wooded area flood each year, as do some of the fields.

Willamette Park has a variety of sports fields, plus trails along the river. The park extends from the Crystal Lake boat ramp in the north to the Taylor water Treatment Plant in the south. During the week, it is fairly quiet, and a nice place to walk the dog. Unfortunately there are dog owners that don't clean up after their pets. After 5 and on weekends it becomes crowded and dusty. While there are some porta potties, the lack of sanitary facilities results in frequent episodes of public urination. The picnic spots are nice, but could use more frequent trash removal and yellow jacket control.

Willamette park is often overlooked as a nice place for a short hike, picnic, or to watch sports activities. Most people know of the latter, but overlook the trails along the river.
