Been here twice now. Sure wish it was closer to home. Food excellent. People great. Very reasonable for the quality of the food & service. A must try when in Bend, OR!

We are from Kona, Hawaii and many years ago this restaurant moved away. We really missed it. A few years later we discovered it had reopened in Bend, Oregon. Now, of course, every year when in Bend we eat here. Of all the Big Island Mix Plate places this is the best. The only problem is that they don't always have kimchi available. They do seem to have a larger menu than the one in Kona. Just outstanding and in the Old Mill District.

My wife and I ate here several years ago, and as parking was tight at our favorite restaurant, we revisited Kona Mix Plate. We both ordered Mahi-Mahi Stir Cry with brown rice and tossed salad. The service was quick. Our salads came quickly and the stir fry was not far behind. All of the veggies were done to perfection. And it had just enough teriyaki sauce to be tasty. But when we looked for the fish, we could see none. After poking around, we found six tiny morsels that could not have weighed more than an ounce or two. And most of the morsels were overcooked. If we had ordered a veggie stir-fry, we would have given it a 4 rating, and it was warm and tasty. But it was a major disappointment as the mahi-mahi was missing in action. At $15, it should have been the star of the plate.

The restaurant is in the same mall as the movie multiplex, just a couple doors down. The inside is pretty small but in nice weather there are tables outside too. I would say there are gluten free options. Not too sure about vegan options - ask at the counter.
