We spent a week over New Year in this beautiful Cottage in the middle of this magnificent landscape and nature. We were greeted by the friendly owners who showed us round the converted barn and made us feel at home immediately - the conversion was actually done by them and you can see and feel the detail and love that's gone into it!
There are two bedrooms with room for up to 5 People, a stunning bathroom with shower and bathtub and some extraordinary woodwork. The kitchen / Dining / Living room area is on the ground floor and boasts with tasteful furniture and offers everything you could need (TV, Wi-Fi, Microwave, Oven, Fridge,...).
There a more than enough walks to take directly from the barn through this quiet and unique part of England.
We enjoyed trips to Church Stretton (Antiques!) and the Carding Mill Valley as well as Shrewsbury & Ludlow (beautiful City centres) and Montgomery (just over the Welsh boarder).
We defenitely have to come back - it's the perfect retreat for a break from everyday hussle and bussle!
We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage. It is full of character - beautifully converted, brilliantly maintained, spotlessly clean and well equipped. It is in a peaceful location up a track and surrounded the lovely Shropshire hills. I watched the sun rise over the hills on our last morning there and wanted to stay forever.
There are great walks from the door, good pubs nearby and lots of activities in the local area - our children did paragliding and a day riding.
I know some people don't like the idea of ownders being on-site but the position of the houses and gardens means that there is complete privacy. After we arrived we didn't see the friendly owners again other than when I knocked on their door to ask for directions somewhere - it was great to have that local knowledge on-hand as sat-navs and Shropshire lanes aren't always compatible!
I think this is the best uk cottage we've ever stayed in and I would go back tomorrow if I could! Can't recommend highly enough.
My family (2 adults and 2 kids aged 13 and 17) have just had a wonderful stay at Birchope Byre. The cottage is small but has everything you need and more. It's up a half mile track so off the beaten track and although it's next door to the owners' house we did not see them once during our week-long stay. There are fantastic walks right on the doorstep (including a great one to a local pub) and the view from the hill behind the cottage has to be one of the best in England. Highly recommended and we hope to go back someday.
Gorgeous cottage set in beautiful surroundings. The cottage is done to a very high standard and was very welcoming and exceptionally clean .The bathroom is to die for! There are 2 sets of stairs which are are open plan that lead to the bedrooms. The stairs could do with a handrail as I personally found them quite difficult to climb. I have joint problems and a handrail would have made them a bit easier to manage.Alison, our host, was so friendly and made us feel at home.
The surrounding countryside is amazing with stunning rural views in every direction.Views of the Stiperstones can be seen from the cottage garden.
If you're looking for a peaceful haven off the beaten track then this is THE place to be!
