The Griffin Cider house is attempting to introduce a more traditional English pub concept to Cleveland. The owner is a recent English import himself and so knows what English pubs are all about. One of the most obvious elements that is also included in the name is a slate of several hard ciders, which can be sampled by ordering a cider 'flight'. Similarly, the owner has gone out of his way to stock fine quality Gins, also available to sample in 'flights'. Of course there is always a selection of English, and English style (local craft) Beers, and there is even a selection of what might be styled as British pub grub, such as meat pies, Cornish Pasties, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, etc. Unfortunately, these are not cooked on site, and so obviously do not have the light flaky pastry, or running juices from the filling. However, they are acceptable in their humble way, and the owner says he is working to provide a kitchen on site. Add to this regular live entertainment and we have a place to enjoy today and with much promise for the future.
