My vegetarian wife and I visited on Tapas night. Nothing wrong with the place itself or indeed the service(to a point) Food was pre-ordered so we waited expectantly, however when food arrived there were problems with their understanding of ‘Tapas’ and also vegetarians. Firstly both our mushroom dishes came out but both on the same plate, consisted of two small mushrooms hardly enough for one let alone two persons. Similarly Pattas bravas came on a single plate ..... taters yes, bravas definitely not.
Goats cheese option came on it’s own plate, hooray!!! Breads came on its own plate too !
Lastly the chicken option came but had to share the plate with another dish- the vegetarian tortilla
When asked the waitress seemed unable to grasp that vegetarians don’t like their food shared with meat or indeed share food that has been handled with the meat eaters cutlery !!!!
I would have expected our 4 options to have arrived on there own plates. The solution to all these problems was to provide us with a spare cold plate ?
Overall very amateur operation, poor value for money.
Suggest their staff go to a proper tapas restaurant to brush up on what actually people expect in the way of presentation and service.

We live locally and often pop in for a coffee etc. Good value and friendly staff. The daily newspapers are available.

We have been going to this cafe on and of for the past few years and always enjoyed it. The recent refurbishment is great and the staff are always pleasant. Unfortunately, this Saturday we were really disappointed when we went for brunch.
In short, they were severely understaffed. We had to clear our own table from the previous diners (after requesting that this several times) and it took 40 minutes to get a cup of coffee and tea - and even longer for the food to arrive.
The waiting staff were doing their best and trying to put a smile onto it. However, there was no visible sign of a manager soothing growing frustrations.
So, what was meant to be a relaxing brunch, turned into a stressful experience, very much regretted. It is a shame to see a great local institution trash its reputation. We do hope they can better staff it in future.
