“Simply perfect”
Reviewed 9 November 2016 for a stay in August 2016

I've spent a number of holidays in Exmoor and North Devn/Somerset and found the Packhorse Stable Cottage the perfect place to stay: it is extremely cosy and comfortable, with all modern cons, but retaining the charme of an old cottage. Brian and Linda are wonderful hosts - thank your for your delicious welcoming cream tea!
Allerford is a peaceful place, great for walks right from your doorstep, but close to the A40, so you can get around Somerset and North Devon.
We enjoyed every moment of our stay!!

“Fantastic family holiday cottage”
Reviewed 11 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

I stayed here for a week in May with my wife and nine moth old son. Stable Cottage was fantastic and Brian and Linda provided an excellent service. We had a really friendly welcome, including homemade scones and tea and they were always on hand during the week to help with any queries.
Stable cottage was well equipped, very comfortable and in a lovely location. We found it to be in great condition and was a good size for us, although the stairs were quite narrow and this may be worth noting for some people.
The village is beautiful and peaceful but very small. However it's only a five minute drive to Porlock which has quite a few shops and places to eat. We found that this makes it a great location for a relaxing holiday, without being too far away from everything. It was a great base to visit lots of places in Somerset and Devon.
I would definitely recommend Stable Cottage to young families and couples looking for a comfortable, relaxing and friendly place to stay.

“Return to Holiday Heaven”

A return visit to Stable Cottage at The Pack Horse proved that returning does not always prove dissapointing. It was still a perfect peaceful spot to unwind for a few days with the wonderfull area of Exmoor and the Somerset and north Devon coasts to explore.
Allerford is a very much unexplored little village containing much to interest the traveller and the great costal bus service gets you along the South West Coast Path.
The Pack Horse is set in a wonderfull courtyard setting with a stream flowing under a historic packhorse bridge where we watched barn owls emerging at dusk.
What more can you ask for. Here`s to the next time.

The facilities availble at the Packhorse can only be described as excellent. You will experieince comfort and friendly service. Linda and Brian will go out of their way to ensure your holiday is an experience you will treasure, and it would amaze me if once you visit Allerford you do not make many return visits, I do:) Allerford is an area of outstanding beauty and the local villagers are the friendliest you will meet anywhere in the world. Make sure you vist Allerford and if you are lucky enough to book a cottage with Linda and Brian then all the better
