The cottage's location on a private estate is stunning. A gate at the bottom of the garden takes you through the woods and on to the estate where we could roam at leisure. It was especially atmospheric at dusk and dawn when you could only hear the birds and when the deer made an appearance. It was a five minute drive from Wooler and not much further to Belford for local amenities and not far off was the Percy Arms, a good dog friendly pub.
We stayed for five nights and absolutely loved it. The cottage is equipped with everything you could need. We felt we were "coming home" after our days out.
Richard and Pam are superb hosts, they certainly make sure you have everything to make your stay memorable. We definitely intend to go back next year.
A magical, picturesque spot! The cottage was beautiful, clean, cosy warm and inviting, Our hosts were really friendly and helpful and left us a wonderful selection of locally made produce to sample, they couldn't do enough for us. We were welcomed with the dogs and had our own little, fenced garden for them to play in. We were given exclusive use of the extensive grounds of the estate, wonderful for dog walking, there was also fly fishing and lots of amazing wildlife to spot. We had several walks on the beach, which was only a short distance away, there was something for everyone. This was a great place to visit and we will definitely be returning sometime soon!
We've had the most amazing stay at this wonderful cottage in March this year on our trip to England from South Africa. The cottage is bigger than the pictures suggest, is very cosy and felt just like a perfect English cottage you immediately feel settled in (the log burner certainly added to the charm). It is very well equipped and has everything you may need for your stay, plus a travel cot, which was a huge bonus for us. Richard is a wonderful host - he makes you feel immediately at home and is the most helpful host I have come across.
The Estate grounds are in a league of their own - breathtaking. We spent a lot of time walking on the grounds, which felt somewhat like being in a period drama.
The wildlife provided a lot of excitement to the whole family. There were red squirrels running around the cottage garden and the Estate grounds alike. At one point there was a red squirrel sitting on the kitchen window and peeking into the cottage. Woodpeckers and many other birds were on the bird feeders a lot of the time. We also saw wild deer running on the lawns of the Estate grounds.
All in all we feel we had the most magical holiday at the cottage, and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a lovely country retreat holiday.
