Northumberland is an amazing place and almost every place that you can stay has great views, minutes from the beach etc. St Aidan's certainly has all that - the sea is literally across the road, you look across the harbour at one side, Bamburgh castle and the beaches on the other and the Farne Islands in front.

There are a lot of places that can take advantage of the great scenery Northumberland has to offer so a hotel stands out because of the things it has to offer of itself. We have stayed at St Aidan's three times now and every time we think of going on holiday to somewhere new we seem to find ourselves back in the company of Rob and Tegan. You will not find a more welcoming, hospitable, relaxed and friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Nothing is too much trouble and it really is like being part of an extended family. The rooms are comfortable, tidy and well stocked with tea, coffee etc and you will also find that small details have been thought of, like a torch and extra blankets. The rooms are cleaned and tidied each day, with the tea and biscuits re-stocked and fresh towels left out.

Once you've had a wonderful sleep, lulled by the sounds of the sea, you can tackle their fabulous breakfasts which range from the classic. cooked breakfast through to smoked salmon. The food is cooked beautifully and always presented with smile and a bit of conversation.

We are the owners of a dog and finding somewhere comfortable, friendly and accommodating is a real challenge. But St Aidan's is perfect and we just keep coming back. I can't recommend the place highly enough and suggest you try it because you won't regret the decision.

Room Tip: Great views from first floor. Good, dog friendly room on ground floor with separate entrance

Myself and husband recently stayed here on our first trip to Northumerland. What a cracking little hotel. As I understand it there are only 8 rooms at this hotel and in some ways it is a little like a posh bed/breakfast. Although there is no manned reception the owners are readily on hand whenever needed. Check in was swift and easy. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with fantastic views to the Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle. The room was spotless, nicely decorated with a good selection of tea, coffee, toiletries etc., which were replaced daily. A nice touch was the binoculars in the room to check out the views even more. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious and clearly cooked freshly to order using locally sourced produce. Service was friendly and efficient. This is a great base for exploring the area and we would have no hesitation in going back.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front, the view is beautiful

We again journeyed to St Aidan Hotel hoping that the new owners would be maintaining the high standards set in previous years. We were not disappointed! Rob and Tegan had much to live up to and, although the public rooms and bedrooms had all been given a new look, the standard of accommodation and welcome was just as high. Our only initial regret was that they had turned the former comfortable lounge into part of the new Bistro, but that was more than compensated for by the excellent standard of food and ambience provided on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening in that new style Bistro. They have obviously worked very hard in this their first year, and if anyone wants a warm welcome, superb food and outstanding location on the coast overlooking the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island in the distance, then make a beeline for St Aidan Hotel, Seahouses.

I was looking for a Hotel on the Coast, with Sea Views, and a base from which to explore the Castles. I found that - and the perfect stay. Just faultless. Rob and Tegan who run Seahouses are just wonderful - completely welcoming and helpful with accommodation changes, sight seeing and restaurant recommendations. The Hotel itself is airy inside with a beach/nautical feel and the views from the windows in the bar/ restaurant and the rooms are breathtaking. The sense of beauty and calm that emanates from every inch of the hotel and its surrounds is amazing. I travelled with two sons and two nephews and they all loved the Hotel too. But also a perfect hotel for couples.Slept really well in the beautiful beds - rooms and bathrooms fresh and spotlessly clean. Love the tea/coffee/biscuits/chocolate facilities, lovely towels and quality bathroom products. Breakfasts are gorgeous and I agree with previous reviewers the - eggs benedict are the best ever ! My son loved the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as well. Cannot recommend this small beautiful hotel highly enough. Loved every minute. Was very sad to leave !

St Aidan has a suberb location with fantastic views of the Farne Islands or Bamburgh Castle from the bedrooms with binoculars provided. We had a really enjoyable stay, Rob and Tegan were very welcoming and helpful. The choice for breakfast was excellent - I only wish we had been able to be there when the Bistro was open as the menu looks mouthwatering. We will be back!
