“Would stay here again”

We had a wonderful stay at the Donkey Barn, disappointed that it is no longer the Sanctuary as advertised. Well situated for exploring Northumberland: Amble (10 minutes away) Alnwick (30 minutes away) Morpeth (7 minutes away) and lots of local beaches. Donkey Barn was well equipped with board games, dvd's and books. The kitchen has everything you need (tin opener is a bit of a challenge). Bedrooms are small but adequate. Very clean throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hopefully will return soon.

Thanks Elaine for a positive review. Yes it's a real shame The Sanctuary can no longer be open to the public and continue to raise the funds it needs to rescue animals but the local council deems it is a zoo not a sanctuary!

Will check out that tin opener and replace !
Kind regards
Kim

A wonderful time away at the donkey barn. We stayed 4 nights and loved every minute. The accommodation is spacious, clean and family friendly. Outside is a wonderful playpark and friendly farm animals.
My two lively boys were entertained from morning till night.
Kim and Allen were extremely accommodating throughout.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.

“Lovely Place”

Needed a place at short notice for me and my 28 year old daughter to visit my mother in Wallsend and a friend in Alnwick. Just about to book 2 hotel rooms when we came across this place.
Ideally situated for both visits. Very comfortable, very spacious, and all the essentials for self catering.
Very nice and thoughtful touch of bottle of wine and chocolates. Also complimentary tea, coffee and milk to start you off. Plenty for our 3 night stay.
Only downside for some people would be its very isolated and not really walkable to a pub, shop etc.
But that's life!!
Would be great for small children as lovely play park, goats, horse, small ponies etc.
Would happily stay again.

“Can't recommend this place enough”
Reviewed 10 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had an absolutely brilliant few days at the Donkey Barn! The kids loved every second and with a play park literally outside their bedroom door and friendly animals in every field, they were in heaven. Our kids ranged from 2 - 12 and they all loved it. Nice and close to the beach and we had loads of fun on the sand dunes in Druridge Country Park. Weather was tip top and the hosts were welcoming (thanks for the wine and chocolate!) Hope to visit again soon.

What a lovely stay we had at The Sanctuary. We were made to feel so welcome and the venue is just so relaxing, with great facilities and really lovely owners. Our toddlers had an absolute ball. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a great weekend!
