“"Keep the home fires burning!"”
Reviewed 25 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Lovely big woodburner kept the hot water lovely and hot, and radiators radiating, and gave a lovely atmosphere to the evenings. We were extremely lucky with the weather in April, beautiful blue skies, making every visit to the seaside, castles or moorlands enjoyable with stunning views. Lots of history everywhere for all the family, and a great little village shop in Cornhill (with wifi!) supplying great pies and picnic fodder, complemented by the long opening hours of the big Sainsbury's in Kelso (open till 10pm on Sundays).
In the house we were off the grid, didn't use the TV, not much of a mobile signal for some, but it was a great break from all that. The attic bedroom was a bit low for our 25 year old, and the staircase is very steep, but would be great for kids. If I could have changed one thing it would be to have taken my own favourite frying pan, but otherwise the cottage is very well equipped and the owners are very close by in case of any questions.
An early morning trip to the bathroom revealed a hedgehog foraging just outside the kitchen window for at least 15 minutes - an extra treat.

Dear Julia
Thank you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Loanview and were able to explore so much of Northumberland.
I am sorry the frying pan missed inspection, you should have said as I have a spare.
It is lovely to see hedgehogs around the place, we have one in the bottom field and is not bothered if the dogs are there.
I hope we will see you again sometime, there is so much to see in this area.

Kind regards to all
Pamela

“Perfect”

Our first stay in England started in a Fantastic way. Staying in this perfectly maintained, very complete and beautiful cottage was a delight. Not far from beautiful place to visit and surroundings that are just lovely. We will recommend this to everyone.

Liked best: Everything
Liked least: The firm matrasses that we were not used to. But this is very personal. We have very soft beds at home

“A lovely retreat”
Reviewed 4 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We have just returned from a fantastic week at this lovely hideaway. Far enough away from it all to switch off from daily life, but easy access to loads of places to explore.
The cottage itself was so warm, clean and welcoming. Thank you too for the lovely fresh eggs, wine and freshly dug potatoes!
We enjoyed watching swallow rabbits and sheep and we're so blessed by fabulous weather.
We hope to return to the area soon and will hoping to be regular visitors. Thank you x

The location beautiful cottage set in countryside with spectacular views of surrounding area . Lots of places to visit within a short distance . Pam and family/friends helpful and friendly with bottle of wine eggs and potatoes . The cottage is large and airy with everything you need and to sit in the evening with log fire blazing and a glass of wine lovely . Would love to go again and visit the places we did not have time to go to

“So glad I found this little gem!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I'm a little loathe to rave on about Loanview as it might generate more interest and make it more difficult for me to book the property next time! Having said that, it's only fair that I let anyone considering a booking know what they will be getting.
I booked the property for myself, hubby and our 13 and 8 year old children. We like out of the ratrace types of places and we certainly were not disappointed! The cottage was easy to find, just off the B road in a very small village, with ample off-road parking for the family car right outside the door. There was an cosy, old-world feel to the house with the wood fire, beamed ceilings and thick stone walls. The garden was lovely, with a little secluded seating area, some lovely cottage garden plants and hedges seating the largest number of sparrows I've seen! The children loved the ponies which live in the field adjoining the garden, and the secure paddock was great for playing family games (cricket and boules set provided at the cottage - brilliant!). The owner was lovely and friendly, both via email and in person and the extra touches were very welcoming.
On the fine weather days, the cottage was in a great location to explore the area, being within distance of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Kelso, Jedburgh, etc, and on the rainy day we had, it was lovely to cosy up with the fire blazing and play board games - a lovely compendium of games is also provided!
The phone signal was a bit hit and miss, and our 13 year old was mortified that there was no wireless, but that made it better for us to relax and get away from everything! Also, the village has no shop, but the shop 5 minutes drive away at Cornhill is very well stocked (and has WiFi!) Also, Tesco and Sainsbury's both deliver in the area.
We absolutely loved our stay at Loanview, it was everything we hoped for and we just wished we had booked for longer!
