“Room for Improvement.”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Had a fantastic few days in the area. The weather has been beautiful and we were very lucky.
Cheviot Lea has been a great base enabling us to get out and about. Had we had poor weather and been more confined to Cheviot Lea then certain aspects would of annoyed us.
The garden needs tidying and the outside windows and doors need a good wash down.
Slight smell of damp in the air on entering the property - a thunderstorm one evening showed the probable reason for this being a window letting in water. We had to leave towels in the window to stop water running down the wall toward electric sockets.
Only one bunk bed made up. I know we informed owner that we had one child (& an 8 week old) but most parents know that you sometimes end up sleeping in the room with your child for their comfort - especially in a new environment. Plus it looked unsightly.
The cot provided for our 8 week old had no fitted sheet just a bare mattress.
No tea or coffee for guests on arrival - I for one am so thankful of a brew when I land somewhere.
If a holiday home owner is going to provide a welcome gift then they should do it for all guests as reading other people's comments thanking them for a cake doesn't make for good reading when we weren't left anything!!!
Shower however was fantastic and the property was clean on the inside.
Great base and wonderful area but a little room for improvement or should we call them finishing touches!!

“Well appointed for Northumberland beach break”

Cheviot Lea provides 2 bedroom accommodation in a compact house around 3 minutes walk from the lovely and sparsely populated beach at Beadnell. The property is clean and reasonably well equipped and dealing with the owner was simple and efficient (via Owners Direct website). We were also able to take our well behaved dog by prior arrangement with the owner.

If you are looking for an 'authentic' seaside cottage then Cheviot Lea would not fit the bill. It's located on a small estate of similar types of properties, many of them seemingly also holiday lets.

The bedding was clean and fresh however the towels, whilst laundered, have clearly had lots of use and therefore smelt a little stale after a couple of uses. Ideally they need replacing or you may wish to take your own.

Whilst we enjoyed fantastic weather it rained over night on 2 of the 3 nights that we stayed there. The rear gutter appears to be damaged and consequently this led to a constant running of rain water onto the bedroom window sill which was loud and led to 2 sleepless nights. Only when we checked other reviews was it apparent that this has been a problem for several weeks. We contacted the owner who apologised and said that he had been let down by local tradesmen but assured that the problem would be rectified.

Finally the wi-fi was excellent throughout the stay ... there were a few negative comments about this on Owners Direct however we had no problems at all.

“Good value holiday let”

We stayed at Cheviot Lea in March 2015.
We found the house to be exactly as portrayed in the pictures & feel it offers excellent value for money. There were little touches that we didn't expect, like extra heaters, thick chunky blankets...nice to know the owners care about their guests.
There was a hairdryer (important for us girls!) even though this wasn't mentioned in the TripAdvisor Listing....and a really good quality shower.
The location is excellent, being a 5 min (if that) walk to the beach....and the same to the Craster pub, which offers lovely food & is extremely dog friendly.
All in all we loved our stay at Cheviot Lea and would recommend it to anyone.
