Well I'm going to disagree with many other reviews. This hotel is pretending to be high class and exclusive when in actual fact it's a run down establishment in need of a lot of updating and improvements.
My wife and I had to change rooms after the first night because our beds were too hard to get any comfortable sleep. In fairness to the staff they did offer us another room adjacent which we took. Incidentally, we had booked one of the Superior rooms.
Both the rooms experienced were in need of updating, only one box sash type window would open in each room, one in need of a book to keep it open.
The en-suite bathrooms in both our rooms were so dated, no showers in either and a toilet seat that didn't fit the pan in our second room, The hot water seem to take forever to arrive at the taps.Nowhere to plug in the short corded hairdryers adjacent to a mirror.
Furnishings throughout the Hotel are not of any quality and many of the paintings on the walls were drab and depressing especially in the Dining Room.
As dinner was very expensive (£35 for 2 courses) we decided not to dine in but the breakfast was okay if only average at best. Incidentally, we experienced dirty table cloths on 2 mornings.
This hotel is in a nice area and does have very good potential to be really top notch but the owners need to invest and stop pretending all is okay.

Room Tip: Not able to advise best.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Marie room and were pleased that it was an old style hotel but with everything we needed.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The setting is really good - a couple of miles from Bamburgh Castle and 10 minute drive to Holy Island.
The breakfasts are tasty and all cooked food is brought to your table rather than the usual buffet.
The dinners were superb - very tasty and a great wine list at reasonable prices.
The hotel is a couple of minutes from the A1 so really easy to get to but it is in a secluded and quiet position.
We look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

We had a first floor room with views of the ocean which was lovely. This is a lovely peaceful place to stay with lots of old fashioned charm. The staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to be of help. Breakfast was top quality and all in all it is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Bayview is a very quiet room.

Top floor superior room was furnished with dated but high quality bed, furniture, bath etc - even two settees so very comfortable. Pleasant service from staff who seemed to help throughout the hotel. The restaurant is probably the best in England north of Newcastle, with ambitious and imaginative dishes which nevertheless work well. Wine list is moderately priced, and house wine glasses are generous.

Room Tip: Good rooms and quiet on all floors, some in grounds. No lift.

My partner and I had an overnight stay in the Waren House Hotel to celebrate her birthday. We had a wonderful evening. The hotel is an old, converted country house full of period charm. The Swans room we were allocated was enormous, with a huge, comfortable bed. The food in restaurant was fabulous and great value for money in our dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The staff are delightful. This is a very old building which has it's quirks but it is full of character and in a lovely location. It won't be long before we return.
