“Cosy welcoming and good service”
Review of The Star

The Star
Ranked #30 of 95 Restaurants in Filey
Certificate of Excellence
Cuisines: British
Description: We are a small family run business serving fine quality Cask Ales & homemade food with both modern & traditional favourites. You will find a well stocked bar with a selection of different cask ales & fine wines. The food ranges from simple bread & dips to Steak & Kindey pudding(a real favourite) & Chilli. We have a specials board which is updated on a regular basis always offering a Steak & a vegetarian option. We have a seperate dining area however we also serve food throughout the bar areas giving our customers the choice of where to eat. The atmosphere in The Star is always pleasant & inviting. The whole place is exceptionally clean & well maintained. The pool table is an integral part of our bar as are the TV's on which we have live sport. The Star offers a warm welcome with very pleasant indoor & outdoor areas. There is a car park to the rear of the premises and beer gardens at the front & rear, which both have the sun all day long (hopefully).

A clean and tidy seafront and gardens. Miles of clean sand with interesting cliffs and paths. The locals are friendly and helpful. The town centre shopping has not been taken over by the national chains and thus retains local character.

Our family (Mum, Dad, two boys 7 & 9) visited with another family (Mum & boy 10). We’d been down at the beach & fancied something other than fish & chips. We’d seen The Star whilst looking for parking & thought it looked welcoming.
We were right!! We arrived about 6.30pm - shown straight to a table (the only one available - lucky for us!) in the restaurant area at the back & given menus.
A friendly young man took our drinks order, sorted it out so that we could pay separately, brought our drinks & returned to take our food order.
The menu had plenty of choice - and we were definitely ready for some nice food as everything cooking smelled really good!!
The children all ate from the children’s menu - I think each meal was £5.95 - good value for a decent sized children’s portion. Often children’s meals are too small to fill a hungry 9 year old!!
Adults had Steak Pie, Chicken & Mushroom pie & Spicy Jambalaya - all at around £10 - everything was delicious. Clean plates all round.
Two young guys waited at our table - they were courteous, friendly & helpful - a real credit to the restaurant.
Even though they were fairly busy, we didn’t feel rushed & really enjoyed our visit. We visit Filey regularly, we’ll definitely be back.

We ate here mid week ,I had the fish pie which was lovely ,my husband had steak ,good pub grub.

A small eating environment with approx 8 tables ,the staff seemed very stressed even though only 2 other tables occupied! However I would eat here again , pleasant place for a drink .
