“Perfect getaway”

Just returned from Flamborough View cottage and cannot rate the place highly enough ! It was lovely and clean and warm on arrival . The cottage itself is very modern and well laid out, large lounge, dining kitchen and a toilet downstairs .
There is a full size built in fridge freezer , full size oven & hob and a slimline dishwasher , plus every utensil you could wish to find .
In The lounge there is a large screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station ( you may need and adaptor to connect iPhone)
We had noted that previous reviews mentioned low sofas, and although they are fairly low they caused us no problem even tho I am recovering from knee surgery !
I think they are low because at least one of them is a sofa bed !

Up stairs finds 3 well presented bedrooms, one with en suite, and a family bathroom.
There is plenty of wardrobe and drawer space throughout.
The beds are really comfy .

In all we found the cottage to be perfect. It is clean modern and well equipped !
It also has great sea view towards Flamborough cliffs .

Highly recommended !

“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 25 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

The cottage was very well refurbished in ALMOST every way but there were a couple of things that badly let it down, that in our opinion could be rectified quite simply to make the cottage somewhere we would return to again and again. Everything was in excellent condition, in particular the beds, bedrooms, shower facilities etc. but surprisingly the cooker was very outdated. Being used to more modern cookers we all found it extremely slow to heat up and difficult to regulate. The second major problem is the settees. We noticed other reviewers had made similar comments. We think that they are adequate if using them for an hour or so, but sitting on the low settees for two or three hours with no support for the back meant they were almost unusable for us all - and all five of us experienced the same difficulties. We used our pillows from the bedrooms as a back and neck support every day, and some of us sat on the dining room chairs as a less uncomfortable alternative.

Hi

Thank you for the review.

Sorry about the cooker , which was actually faulty and was not cooking at full power ; we were unaware of this.

The cooker was replaced the following week after being reported by the next guests.

The sofa's are standard size sofas and we are sorry they were too low for you etc.

These are scheduled to be replaced this year and we will take on board your comments and try to get some slightly higher ones also which are less deep.

Thank you for custom

“Long weekend in Filey”
Reviewed 20 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in Filey. The owner contacted me the evening prior to our stay to arrange arrival time and key availability. Mill cottages are located on the outskirts of Filey but are within easy walking distance to the town and are safely away from the main road. There is also a bridle path leading to a stunning costal walk. The views from the cottage are beautiful.

The accomadation was found to be clean and very well equiped. We were a party of six adults, it should be noted that the 3rd bedroom is very tight and more suitable for two children, that said two of our party were only staying for one night so wasn't a problem for us. As commented in previous reviews the sofas are on the low side, but overall the cottage is as described, in a lovey quiet location. We had a most enjoyable stay and would be more than happy to stay there again.

“Near miss”
Reviewed 10 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A spacious property with a good outlook over fields to Bempton Cliffs. Access was pretty good to main roads.

The interior was reasonably well maintained and looks good at first glance - though on closer inspection could do with freshening up. The exterior could do with some work especially the flaking paint on the window frames.

We saw deer and pheasants in the field most days and a hunting Barn Owl on an evening.

The beds were the most comfortable we've had in any holiday accommodation. The central heating was efficient though we hardly used it. The bathroom was roomy enough though it proved impossible to take a shower without a pool of water forming on the floor. There was also a problem with temperature control either too cold or too high with no way to reduce it until it overheated and cut out. The kitchen was adequate though a baking tray would have been useful for the oven as would taller glasses for soft drinks.

We enjoyed the week and I'd have liked to have given a better rating but the main issue for us was the very poor seating downstairs. Three settees - none of them suitable for anyone who is tall (I'm 6'2") or with mobility issues such as my rheumatoid arthritis. At least the dining chairs were padded though again low and uncomfortable to use for long periods. Anyone with mobility issues whether through age or health such as arthritis will struggle to find a decent seat to sit on. Even my wife who doesn't have health problems found it difficult trying to get up from such low seating. If not for that issue I'd likely have given 3 or 4 stars and it's the reason we'll never revisit, until the seating is replaced.

Thank you for the review.

Sorry to hear that the sofas were too low for some members of your group .
As far as we know they are a regular height.

We can provide a higher chair if required , so please ask if you visit again.

The dining chairs are a standard size and any taller ones would make it difficult to sit under the table.

It is always hard to find a perfect height that suits everyone for seating and we will try to accommodate any special requests made ..
