Sykeside is family run and the welcome could not be warmer or more friendly. The building is a typical mill-owner's residence from the valley's cotton industry past and has the high-ceilinged rooms to prove it! It has obviously been modernised fairly recently and has all the usual amenities that you would expect from a good hotel - but has managed to keep the country house feel. The bathrooms are very large, well furnished and have ample hot water.

Breakfast is well worth getting up for - especially the full English (which includes genuine Bury black pudding if you wish). Despite it's location close to a major road junction the building is well set back with a small but pleasant garden and there is little road noise.

We stayed for an evening meal for one evening and it was excellent quality if just a touch expensive. There are plenty of local pubs in the area that serve very good meals - but we would happy eaten at Sykeside again.

There appears to be one wheelchair-friendly room on the ground floor.

If you are visiting the Rossendale valley you could do much worse than giving this friendly hotel a visit.

Very welcoming hotel. The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable so a great nights sleep. I've stayed here before so had no concerns with booking to stay again. This is a family run business and Janet now the owner since 2004 originally worked here as staff in 1989 so she knows the area very well. Thanks for a great stay.

Stayed for one night as attending a social function. Nice large room, cute bathroom, good extras on tea tray and friendly enough staff. Room view lovely.
Alas the bed in our room was awful, a mattress way past its sell by date resulting in bad backs and meeting in the dip in the middle.
Breakfast eased our pain which is outstanding.
Comments here would have been shared on departure but we were asked only for payment not how our stay had been.

The hotel only as a few rooms, but it was a nice place to stay. Friendly welcome with a nice polite lady on reception. The bedroom was large with a four poster bed in the centre, our room was well maintained and the pink decor did give it a warm feeling. It had high ceilings in both the bedroom and the immaculate bathroom, yet both rooms were warm and cozy. The hotel has a comfortable bar area and separate dining-room, and an excellent breakfast is served in the conservatory. Overall the night spent at the hotel was a good one. I would recommend that if you need to stay in the area that this hotel is the place to stay.
