“Slow decline of this once vibrant Mecca for the discerning shopper”
Review of The High Street

Owner description: A very attractive small market town with plenty of independent shops and small cafes. A beautiful High Street with a lovely tree lined avenue and greens, and an abundance of historic buildings to gaze at including a fabulous 11th century church. Grab a ride on one of the steam trains from Tenterden Town Station and take in the lovely views of the unspoilt surrounding countryside as the train trundles down the track. The title "Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald" is richly deserved. Free car parking in Bridewell Lane car park every Sunday and on Bank Holidays

Each visit witnesses the closure of yet another retail outlet. I fear it will soon look like a ghost town with Waitrose standing like an oasis off an otherwise barren high street. I notice that yet another charity shop is due to open as the only type of outlet that can avoid the ever increasing rents and rates.

Full of charity shops which are very over priced. Lots of coffee shops and pricey pub grub which is pretty much the high street. It's a very "pretty" town but doesn't have much to offer anyone under 50. Needs more bins in and around the high street, cinema, more parking.

Tenterden is a bit run down, full of charity shops
Not a friendly place at all
Very snobby, don’t know why as it’s nothing special
Not very clean
Avoid the White Lion, better places than that to eat
Parking is a joke
